We welcome the fashionably late arrival of DemonX5136 this week, as he squares off with the undermanned, but always dangerous mission-8-. Mission sits at 3-1, tied for first in the NFC with 4 other teams. Demon's CPU Falcons held their own, giving Demon a 2-2 record (yes Demon technically played week 4. Deal with it.)
Week 6 opens Thursday night.

Steelers Remain Unbeaten After 41-35 OT Victory
It was an entertaining Monday Night Football contest, as it should be, between the Steelers and Chargers under the bright lights in San Diego. Those that tuned in were rewarded with a great back and forth affair between two of the AFC's best in a battle of QB's from the draft class of 2004 (Big Ben and Phillip Rivers). The Steelers jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead only to see the Chargers score 21 unanswered. San Diego did a good job of bottling up Le'Veon Bell who finished with around 60 yards rushing, but this explosive Steelers offense simply put the ball in the hands of its franchise QB and let him sling it. Roethlisberger would throw TD passes in regulation to Martavis Bryant, DeAngelo Williams and two to Markus Wheaton as the Steelers regained tied the game late at 35. The Chargers missed a 60 yard FG attempt as time expired sending the game to OT. In OT, the Steelers won the toss and proceeded to march down the field for the game winning drive capped off by a Roethlisberger to Antonio Brown strike. Big Ben finished with 455 yards passing and 5TD tosses.

Award Nominations Update
OPoTY (pre-season): RB Le'Veon Bell
OPoTY (current): RB Le'Veon Bell
Synopsis: RB Le'Veon Bell was thought to be the straw that stirs the drink that is the Steelers offense coming into the season and nothing has changed. Bell is averaging over 90 yards per game rushing and has recently become more of a factor in the passing game. His running has helped the Steelers get off to good starts, improve the quality of the play-action passing game and successfully chewed up clock late in games when needed. The Steelers are averaging 30 points per game and Bell is a big reason for that.
DPoTY (pre-season): DE Cameron Heyward
DPoTY (current): FS Mike Mitchell
Synopsis: DE Cameron Heyward has been very good so far this season stuffing the run and being of the few Steelers defenders to get to the QB. However, the surprising choice for DPoTY has to be FS Mike Mitchell who leads the team (and possibly the league) with four INT already. The Steelers secondary was thought to be the weak link in the defense and still may be the case, but a large reason for the 5-0 start has been Mitchell's play manning center field limiting big plays and creating turnovers.
RoTY (pre-season): OLB Bud Dupree
RoTY (current): CB Senquez Golson
Synopsis: When this was written prior to Week 1 the coaching staff was still debating whether OLB Bud Dupree was be the opening day starter while second round pick CB Senquez Golson was slotted as the fifth CB. Mike Tomlin eventually went with the veteran Arthur Moats with Dupree getting spot duty in certain formations while Golson did not see the field in the first two games. The CB out of Ole Miss must have been working hard at practice though as he was inserted as the team's nickel CB for Week 3 and has proved his worth ever since providing good coverage and even getting a pick 6 vs the rival Ravens. There are whispers that Bud Dupree will be making his first start in Week 6 but as of right now the RoTY is Golson.
FAoTY (pre-season): None
FAoTY (current): P Jordan Berry
Synopsis: As much as I try not to include kickers/punters in conversations about football players there really wasn't another choice and Berry has actually been decent. The Steelers did very little in the way of signing free agents that were not on the team last year (a backup OL here, a reserve CB there, a backup fullback somewhere) but only Jordan Berry has actually seen the field. Truth be told, he has actually done really well by limiting big returns with his angle punts and pinning opposing offenses with his numerous punts inside the 20.
*** Edit - For some strange reason when I originally made my selections and again when writing up the update I completely forgot that RB DeAngelo Williams was a FA pick up of the Steelers, doh. If I had a redo I'd probably make him my pre-season FAoTY if only because he would have been the only free agent signing (not a re-signing) that I would have expected to actually see time (not including kickers/punters). In any case, he has been been very good at spelling Bell in his limited touches but I still may have to go with P Jordan Berry as my FAoTY thus far. ***

Survive and Advance
The struggles of a young quarterback were more than apparent today, as Zach Mettenberger was responsible for three horrendous interceptions. Two of those were in scoring position. Thankfully, the Chiefs offense is anemic, and the weak Bears defense didn't have much to worry about.
Brock Vereen is once again an under the radar Bears defender who seems to have settled into his role at Free Safety, much like Madden 15. There is also controversy brewing, as summer spark plug Sam Acho is losing grasp of the starting ROLB spot to veteran Jared Allen, who showed youthful burst in putting pressure on Alex Smith. Acho hasn't been bad, but Allen is adding that threat of a rusher opposite McPhee to keep offenses thinking. Does he take over when facing Detroit next week?
The hero of the game this week had to be Kyle Fuller at CB. He came up with a trio of big pass breakups on third downs to stall drives. Backed up deep inside the red zone, Fuller read an Alex Smith option and destroyed the QB dislodging the ball to take points off the board. He then followed that up with a 75 yard pick six, jumping a hitch that Alex Smith was slow on delivering the ball to as Vereen took away Smith's first read.
Chicago versus Detroit in a week should be interesting. Posky always has some voodoo up his sleeves to make ridiculous plays. It's been that way ever since their first AALoA game ever.

Texans defeat Colts 28-14.
Colts were determined to stop the run, loading the box on most plays. This forced the Texans to rely on their young QB David Fales who once again played marvelously. He took advantage of an aggressive defense and was able to use play actions and accurate throws to lead the Texans to victory. Andrew Luck had an off day, but Ben Tate picked up the slack to keep the game close, but in the end, it was not enough as the Colts had a tough time generating offense through the air.
Player of the Game: David Fales, QB
Finished the day with 269 yards and 4 TDs
