We have a user national title game: No. 2 Nebraska vs. No. 1 Alabama.

We also have a user Heisman, Alabama HB Derrick Henry, who rushed for 1,858 yards on 240 carries for 33(!!!!) TDs. He added 3 more TDs on receptions. Alabama dominated this year's award, with its QB finishing second in voting.

Ken's No. 4 UCLA Bruins will play No. 5 Virginia Tech in the Rose Bowl.

Mizzou stays home this year after a pitiful 5-7 season, the worst in Coach Mustard's tenure.

The offseason begins Wednesday, April 2.

The 2016 AALoA BCS National Championship, sponsored by Katherine Webb's amazing body got off to a tumultuous start. Nobody ever expected the media to have such control over a game. But after multiple broadcast blackouts, the game was rescheduled for 24 hours later than expected. And then a funny thing happened. Alabama jumped out to a 14-0 lead before another rolling blackout across Miami.  When the officials decided to restart the game again, Nebraska finally woke up.

The Huskers opened the game promising not to run any form of no huddle as the sheer electricity generated by the trio of Tommy Armstrong, Terrell Newby, and Adam Taylor caused all sorts of equipment to short circuit. Neither team was allowed their playbooks on the sidelines due to a Miami ban on excess paper, and both coaches were forced to draw plays in their dirt for their players.

Nebraska received to open the game. The team methodically moved the ball down the field with a balanced rushing attack, passing only when the down and distance dictated them to. On 3rd and short, Armstrong found Newby across the the middle for a 15 yard TD.  Alabama would answer, as starting QB Alec Morris for his receiver across the middle as well for a long strike.

Driving late into the half, and deep into 'Bama territory, Tommy Armstrong dropped back looking to the sidelines to avoid any safeties. However, Alabama decided to drop back 11 defenders and rush none. Standing there all day long, Armstrong turned around looking into the stands, pointing out a pretty little lady to call him after the game. Somehow, the Alabama defense finally broke down, and Armstrong found his TE in the end zone.  Alabama would try to counter, and with less than a minute left, would get out of rhythm and throw a pick in the end zone to seal the drive. Nebraska entered the locker rooms up 14-7.

Alabama opened the 2nd half with the ball, but could do nothing with it. Instead they booted the ball deep to Nebraska. On the Husker's opening drive, Touchdown turned Turnover Tommy redeemed himself and became Touchdown Tommy once again. On a perfectly executed QB Draw that found the defense out of alignment ready to throw an exotic blitz at the offense, Armstrong scampered 65 yards for a TD, untouched. Nebraska had gained full momentum in the game and were out for blood. On Alabama's ensuing drive, LB Josh Banderas stepped in front of an ill-advised pass ending the 3rd consecutive drive for 'Bama without points. Just a couple of plays later, Tommy Armstrong lit up the sky with a scorching Phoenix of a throw deep down the left sideline. Backup Alabama QB, and 2nd CB on the roster Chris Phillips bit hard on a Play Action look, and Freshman phenom Andre Manning hauled in an 86 yard TD pass. The TD catch put Manning over 1,000 yards for the season.  Alabama finally put a scoring drive together late in the 3rd quarter, but Manning's catch was the final nail in the coffin.

To open the 4th quarter, Nebraska faced a 3rd down and short. Again Phillips bit on the Play Action, and this time Manning hauled in a 34 yard TD pass.  Alabama scored again as well, completing a two point conversion, but it was too little too late.

Game Notes:
>>Alabama entered the game with THREE 1,000 yard rushers. They exited the game with a combined total of 8 yards rushing.
>>Alec Morris was phenomenal for Alabama, only 4 missed passes and 2 TDs. Backup Super Weapon Chris Phillips was woefully inconsistent with 2 Interceptions, and 2 massively blown coverages leading to TDs.
>>While Huskers DE David Busch massacred opponents during the regular season, fellow DE Brad Golden went up the best offensive lineman Alabama had, and was a force all game. Busch faced the weakest OLinemen and failed to record any statistics.
>>The Huskers have only 3 losses in 4 years, Alabama has only 4 losses in 3 years.

Great write up EDJ. The lack of a custom playbook really hurt me as I didn't have my go to plays in the red zone right at my finger tips. Those two INTs both came in the redzone and if I had been able to convert them into at least FGS this might have been a different game.

Great season but we came up short. Our weaknesses were magnified in this game (and using stock play books didn't help) as our OL didn't do much to help establish the run and our secondary got exposed. We almost pulled off a national championship with a lot of smoke and mirrors based on our depth chart. There's no way you should be 13-1 with your backup QB as the starting cornerback! Either way we've hopefully started the process of fixing our depth on the OL and on defense. Chris Phillips takes over full time next year at QB so we'll have to change the offense to better match his strengths and minimize his weaknesses.

Roll Tide Roll!

I will argue the lament of not being able to use custom playbooks to get the game going. We tried everything. Deleted game utility data. Delete tuning data. Looked at depth charts.  We even disconnected once or twice with stock playbooks. SMH.

Should you have 15 minutes of time to waste, here's the replay of the title game, splicing out all of the fluff in the game. Sad to think that an hour spent boils down to 15 minutes of action...
