DT Jacob Ridgeway
#2 DT(#39 Overall)
Timberlane, LA
A position of need remains a position of strength. Likely to see playing time day one. Depends on development of upper classmen this offseason.
Athlete Dane Ross
#2 ATH (#6 Overall)
Shaker Heights, OH
Ross was stolen from Michigan State, signing on the spot of his visit, much like the other recruits this season. The Huskers have a special gameday experience that young men want to be a part of now. Even if the stadium is in the middle of nothing but cornfields. Ross can play RB, WR, or even a little Safety.
It's not all good news though as the Huskers lose out on Joel Kilpatrick to Michigan. Kilpatrick was the #1 WR whou could've been a nightmare to cover with last year's #1 WR recruit who is currently red-shirting.

ALABAMA - 45 ARKANSAS - 14
Another strong showing by the Crimson Tide against a top 25 opponent. Alabama was dominate on both sides of the ball holding Arkansas to 14 points which were scored all in the first half.
Our two headed monster RB tandem of TJ Yeldon and Kenyon Drake lead the way with over 400 yards of rushing. Yeldon had 240 yards and 3 TDs, while Drake had 167 and 2 TDs.
The Alabama defense didn't get a turnover but yielded only 285 yards of total offense.
Based on the results of these past few games, our two early season losses have really left a bitter taste in our mouths. But we are going to keep pressing towards the SEC West crown, then onwards to the SEC Championship and hopefully a BCS bid.
Players of the Game:
Offense: TJ Yeldon - 19 Car, 240 Yds, 3 TD, 3 Rec, 37 Yds
Defense: Matt Smith - 4 Tkls, FF

Oooooh, that means Iowa has a chance to regain that #1 ranking just three weeks after losing their first game of the season.

Mizzou upsets No. 1 USC
Missouri 23, USC 17 (OT)
In a defensive struggle, the Missouri Tigers rallied from an early 14-0 deficit to knock off the undefeated USC Trojans in overtime.
Fittingly, it was a defensive play — a pick 6 by CB John Gibson on 3rd and Goal — that sealed the deal for the Tigers, after neither team could capitalize on scoring opportunities with the game tied in the fourth quarter. Both teams had the ball around midfield late in the 4th with time to to get into FG range, but both defenses stepped up big, coming up with batted balls and crucial sacks when it mattered most.
QB Corbin Berkstresser, filling in for the still-injured Maty Mauk, was effective, though unspectacular. He finished 15-22 for 175 yards, 2 TDs, and fourth quarter INT that nearly cost the Tigers the game.
"It was tough out there, man," Berkstresser told reporters after the game. "Coach Nike was throwing us all sorts of different looks — couldn't focus in on one or two routes, or one or two guys."
USC QB Max Browne was brilliant for most of the game, completing 19 of 22 throws, for an impressive 86% completion clip. He led the Trojans to an early 14-0 lead, with the help of a punishing offensive line that gashed the Tiger defense for huge running lanes for HB J. Allen.
Unfortunately for USC, two of Browne's three misses went for INTs, including the game ender against tight man coverage.
The Tigers improve to 4-3 with the win, while the Trojans fall to 7-1, and appear likely to lose their No. 1 ranking.
--
Players of the Game:
Offense: WR Curtis Wall -- 5 catches for 106 yards
Defense: DE Shane Ray -- 2 sacks
Great game, man. I got lucky on a few throws into coverage at the end, but that was a hell of a battle.
Merry Christmas!

There's still an outside shot for the top 3 teams in the big 10 to be ranked 1/2/3Steel Pitt wrote:x--Nike wrote:USC losses to Mizzou in OT, Honestly this game has never felt so broken and of course it happpens to me vs mustard! Happy Holidays!

Old Tyme Football
The Husker football team fell back down to earth this weekend. After an amazing high posting impressive victories over top opponents, Nebraska had to go the ol' Big Ten standby of three yards and a cloud of dust. After a 3 and out by Michigan's anemic offense opened the game, Tommy Armstrong found a wide open TE on broken coverage on the second play of the Huskers opening drive. From there, neither team could do much. In the 2nd quarter, Armstrong threw a pick, which was followed by Michigan throwing a pick, which was followed by Armstrong throwing a pick right back. The terrible turnover tendencies of Armstrong led the QB to be benched. Bobby Hale stepped in at half and proved that he can handle the lights of a big stage, and while unimpressive operating the offense, did not turn over the ball once, despite his best try. Hale led the Huskers on 2 drives resulting in field goals to pull away and let the defense shut down the Wolverines.
On defense, the newly anointed "Bash Brothers" continue their season long rivalry to see who can get to the QB most, with each registering a sack. They now tie for the team lead with 6 apiece, and are tied for 4th in the nation between Mizzou's Ray, and UCLA's Willis. Redshirt Freshman Golden may hold the tiebreaker with 13 tackles for loss against Busch's 8.
Despite the win, Nebraska expects Armstrong to start next week as the season-ending grind continues versus Wisconsin who almost upset Iowa. It's a classic trap game as Alabama awaits a week later before finishing versus Northwestern and Iowa to close the season.

Iowa Continues to Win In Unimpressive Fashion
The #2 Iowa Hawkeyes may have an impressive ranking but their play on the field has been anything but. The defense has been porous and sophomore Jason Wade has struggled mightily in the passing game. Wade completed his first 5 passes but only 7 of his next 16 and threw 3 INTs. However, he did rush for 259 yards and 3TD and the defense shutout Maryland in the fourth quarter as Iowa scored 3 times, including the game winning FG with 1 second remaining to erase a 31-21 fourth quarter deficit. The Hawkeyes move to 6-1 with the 33-31 victory and will now get ready to host Northwestern next week.
