Week 4 Open

Week 4 is now open.  I will advance the week on Saturday (12/14).

We head to Tuscaloosa for this week's Game Of The Week as the Crimson Tide welcome the Missouri Tigers to Bryant-Denny Stadium for a pivotal SEC matchup.  Both teams enter this matchup not as they would have hoped or expected as they enter Week 4.  The Crimson Tide, who went 13-1 last season, were all prepared to roll through another regular season but quickly stumbled in week 2 thanks to a sluggish offensive performance versus USC.  The Tigers, who won the SEC East last season, already find themselves under .500 and 0-1 in SEC play.  If they hope to return to the SEC Championship Game they can not afford to lose another game this early or they'll be playing extreme catchup the rest of the way.

Junior QB Maty Mauk leads this Mizzou attack as he is second in the country in passing yards but his TD-INT ratio could explain the slow start for the Tigers.  While he is second in passing yards he's also thrown 7TD compared to 11INT just 3 games into the season.  That does not spell good news as he gets set to face a stifling Alabama defense in Tuscaloosa.

While the Missouri QB position has been hampered by turnovers, the Alabama QB is more murky as Coach Anderson recently made a switch at QB, giving the nod to redshirt freshmen Chris Phillips.  With the youngster behind center, expect to see a heavy dose of TJ Yeldon until he gets his feet under him.

#1 Michigan State vs #3 Ohio State

This would have and probably should have been the Game Of The Week but Buckeye is still on auto-pilto so there's a good chance this will be a CPU game.

Buckeye - If you are still keeping track of the league, let us know if you are still running with the league.

Squirrel - I would try to schedule your game with Buckeye, but note that he is on auto-pilot so you can go ahead and play the CPU whenever you have the time.  If Buckeye does decide to play and you can fit in the game, I can always throw out the results of your CPU game so you two can play.

Talk about a gauntlet, Michigan State hosts #3 Ohio State this week and then #2 Iowa next week.

The Big Ten Conference has continued to assert themselves as the new powerhouse conference as proven by Big Ten teams holding down the Top 3 spots in the Coaches Poll.

3. Ohio State

I leave for winter break on Thursday, so I definitely have to play Buckeye/tOSU before then. It would be best if we could somehow advance tomorrow so I could play you, Pitt, but I doubt that will happen.

Yeah, like I said try to get in touch with Buckeye but note that he is still on auto-pilot so play the game whenever you have time between now and Thursday.

I will try and get my game in tonight but will most likely be tomorrow.

UCLA wins again in dramatic fashion

After falling behind 17-0 after the first quarter, the UCLA Bruins rally to beat the Washington State Cougars 59-55 in a barnburner. QB Brett Hundley throws for 476 yards and 4 TDs (with 4 INTs) and runs for 3 more, including the game-winner from 9 yards out with 13 seconds left.

With the addition of another dynasty member, did anyone check out EDJ's theory on the coach XP glitch?

It's worth a shot^ I could use it.

I tried searching for my post. Don't know where I entered it.

The gist of it was, if you look at different sections of the Dynasty, the game will sort things like Depth Chart and Injury Report by User Teams first. Then the rest of the CPU teams alphabetically after that.

When I last checked it still showed Penn State sorted near the top with the users, and did not recognize USC as a user team, and Zach is afflicted by the XP Glitch in this case.

So before Sick Wid It joins, maybe he can try to join as Penn State, and then retire instead of getting booted by the commish. Maybe NCAA will then properly reset the coaching staff for PSU, and start to recognize Zach as a User coach. Maybe he can try quitting/rejoining after SWI joins/retires as any afflicted teams.

Just a thought. I know Operation Sports says rejoining doesn't work, but wasn't sure if what I found is taken into consideration.

Illmatic also used a custom playbook with PSU. Maybe before joining/quitting, SWI can join, ensure that PSU uses a default team PB, and then retires.

Just thoughts with no factual items to base them off of.

I guess we could try.  My only reason to be hesitant with that approach is that the last time someone dropped rather than being booted was Degenerate at Oregon.  And for some reason the game didn't recognize Oregon as having a Head Coach the rest of that season.  Because of that Oregon got blown out in every sim game and Ken wasn't able to connect when trying to play Oregon.

I would hate to have the same thing happen to Penn State especially since there are 5 other users in the B1G.
