After taking the opening kickoff and easily scoring on the vaunted Alabama defense, UCLA didn't score again until 1:52 in the third quarter. UCLA gave up 49 unanswered points, largely a result of 4 first half interceptions. It was all academic at that point, as the Alabama offense didn't throw a pass for the entire second half, and only had 7 passes attempted (all completions) for the entire game. The Bama defensive secondary is on fire with 14 interceptions on the season. As a team we are a staggering +17 in the turnover margin! Our new defensive coordinator is earning his keep!

Mizzou stonewalls Vandy
Missouri 19, Vanderbilt 7
It was a game Missouri could have — and probably should have — won by 35 points.
But it was also the sort of game that in the past the Missouri Tigers always seemed to find a way to lose.
Not this year.
Thanks to a dominant defensive performance, No. 10 Missouri overcame 3 red zone turnovers to knock off No. 25 Vanderbilt in Nashville.
The Tigers' offense moved the ball methodically all game, but failed to give their defense any breathing room. Through most of the first three quarters, the game was tied at 7-7, despite Missouri outgaining Vanderbilt nearly 3 to 1. On one first half series, Missouri turned it over on downs instead of taking an easy field goal. Next, the backup tight end fumbled away a first down grab. Finally, midway through the third, QB John Howard threw a costly INT on a hitch route in the end zone.
But Missouri's defense rose time and again to the challenge, holding Vanderbilt to just 148 yards of total offense, and adding a late exclamation point with a safety after Missouri's punter pinned Vanderbilt at the 1-yard line.
The road win will keep Missouri in the top 10 for another week, with hopes of a BCS berth still very much alive.
