Season 5: Week 1
Hey, hi, hello there. Welcome back to the regular season. Hopefully you've enjoyed your offseason. I think the Jaguars had the best offseason out of the users in the league. Signing Peyton Manning for a year, maybe two, and their draft shrewdness collecting 500 or so draft picks. Hopefully it turns things around for them this season.
We lose two users, and nobody bothered to complete the sign-up process. But that's ok. Quality over quantity.
What are you expecting out of your team this year? I'll have the Spotlight nominations thread up shortly.

Of course we start with a rivalry game (by default). After a disappointing season a year ago, the Vikings have to have some renewed optimism with the additions they've made heading into this year. Ziggy Ansah joins Linval Joseph on the DLine to wreck havoc. Teddy Bridgewater is ascending, and has a new weapon in Antonio Brown to pair with star-in-the-making Yakov Hayes and Stephen Hill. The Bears added Justin Gilbert in the secondary to counter the addition of Antonio Brown, and block the Vikings from another big signing. But the biggest change of all is the switch to a 3-4 defense. All 11 starters on the Bears defense were around a year ago, just now in different places. Will the team be able to handle the transition? Will opposing offenses be able to handle the transition?

Jaguars start the season with a 27-0 win over Miami. Peyton Manning throws for 2 touchdowns to rookie TE Pederson and also threw a couple of picks in the second half both intended for receivers in the endzone. WR Skinner got himself a TD on a punt return and had two other big returns on the day. Go Jags!

That punter took the worst pursuit angle I've ever seen. Great win.

Packers win in Philly, 27-20. Rodgers MVP as usual with 3 TDs & carrying the team vs a stifling Eagles run defense.
Packers lose Clay Matthews for the next 4 games with a partial tear in his shoulder.

Chargers shut out the Rams, 14-0. RB Carlos Hyde rushed for both TDs as QB Skylar Murray struggled offensively despite not turning the ball over. A difficult matchup with the Legion of Boom awaits next week.

Chicago opens up the season with a resounding, complete win over the Vikings. The score only masks the output Chicago posted in all three phases of the game.
Mario Jeter was nearly perfect through the air with 2 TD passes. The rushing game posted over 100 yards thanks to Lofton, Forte, Jeter, and WR Vereen on a Jet Sweep.
The defense forced 2 picks to stall key Viking drives, one being a Peanut INT in the end zone.
And on Special teams, Jeffery Demps returned a kick 78 yards, and a punt 71 yards, but was so gassed he couldn't quite make it to the end zone.
The new 3-4 defense by the Bears completely shut out the Vikings running game in the first half. The 400+ passing yards given up can partially be credited to Minnesota trying to come back. Several times Kyle Fuller and Justin Gilbert were in position to make plays, just to see the receiver grab the ball anyway.
