Despite not playing each other in the regular season, Coach Anderson and his #3 ranked Arizona State Sun Devils looked destined to renew his coaching rivalry vs Coach Mustard and his #7 ranked SMU Mustangs.
Can Arizona State continue to maneuver its way through a tough PAC12 conference schedule?
Can SMU crash the BCS Title party with an undefeated season and some help?

Colorado Springs Is Buzzing Following Lopsided Victory Over Fresno State
It may be a bye week for the Air Force football team but that doesn't mean that there isn't a lot happening on campus with respect to said football team.
The cadets shook their tail feathers like only a military man could as the bye week gave the cadets, in particular the seniors, an extra week to celebrate a win over a Top 10 team on Senior Day. With the win, the Falcons clinched a spot in the MWC Championship Game and rose to #13 in the latest BCS Rankings.
Air Force also received their first commitments of the season when WR Michael Barber, OT Trai Wheeler and K Nick Cody signed on the dotted lines.
Another big happening on campus was the widespread news/rumors of QB Nate Romine entering the Heisman Trophy discussion. The true sophomore QB has really grown in OC TomBarry DiClemente's offense as he's thrown for 2,443 yards and rushed for another 734 while accounting for 30 total TD's.

That makes 10 in a row for the Sun Devils. UCLA proved no match for ASU as we stormed out to a 56-7 halftime lead. Heisman and Maxwell finalist Brett Hundley was held in check for the entire game as our defense played well above their heads especially in the first half. In that the first two quarters our defense held UCLA to 3-10 on third down, five 1st downs, had 3 sacks, forced & recovered 2 fumbles, held UCLA to 20 yards rushing on 10 attempts, and held Hundley to 12-24 passing for 148 yards.
Our offense in the first half was simply a sight to behold, as we had 604 total yards! Most of this came by the arm of Senior QB Taylor Kelly, but also by way of a 95 yard, NCAA record Kickoff return by D. Hayes.
It was also another recording setting day as Jalen Strong set the school record for receiving TD's in a game, and broke the school record for receiving yards and receptions in a season. We also passed the 6,000 yard mark for yards in a season and we still have 3 games left on the schedule. Deantre Lewis also passed the 1,000 rushing yard mark (YES, WE RUN THE BALL!!) and has played admirably since stepping into the starting HB role once DJ Foster was lost for the season.
We have claimed a spot in the Pac12 championship, which looks like a rematch with ORE. This time it will be a home game. Looking where we stand right now in the BCS rankings, if we can run the table we should make it to the championship game in Coach Anderson's first year at the controls. All signs point to a match-up with FSU or SMU. First we have to handle business against hated rival Arizona and then ORE two weeks later.
Next Up: Arizona
Players of the Game
Offense: Taylor Kelly, QB, 29-33, 385 Yds, 11 Car, 75 Yds, 7 Total TD
Defense: Salamo Fiso, 3 Tkls, FF, FR
RECRUITING UPDATE
Since our last update, we have had four more signees:
We added two more JUCO recruits to sure up our depth issues on defense and offense, signed another ESPNU Top 150 player, and got an absolute steal with recruit Matthew Holloway. He's the #22 ranked CB, but has skills (89 speed, 93 acceleration, 80 pursuit, 80 play recognition, 81 MC, 83 ZC, and 86 press). We also have the added bonus of probably being able to redshirt him next year! DeAngelis is another solid recruit that can play both ways (WR & CB) having similar skill ratings to Holloway. We're SUPER deep at WR so I figure he'll play defense.
We had five recruits on campus and hope to have used up all but 2-3 scholarships heading into the off-season. We are in recruiting battles with some schools with huge recruiting budgets so we need all of our resources to finish up this strong inaugural recruiting class.
NATIONAL RECRUITING RANK: #16 up from #22

WHAT ABOUT ME???
This is an open letter from Taylor Kelly, Senior QB at Arizona State University to those who rank select the 5 players for the Heisman Watch:
Hello Heisman folks,
I just have one question..........................WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO FOR YOU TO LOVE ME????
I missed 3.5 games at the beginning of the season and I still lead the NCAA in most passing categories. I won ON THE ROAD at Oregon! I embarrassed UCLA and thoroughly outplayed Brett Hundley whose ranked #2 in the Heisman poll.
LOOK AT THESE NUMBERS!!! LOOK AT THEM!!!!
192.4 QB Rating
240-318 (75% completion rating)
3266 Passing Yards
41 Total TDs (35 passing, 6 rushing)
362.8 Passing Yards Per Game
13.6 Yards a pass
AND I MISSED 3.5 GAMES!!!
AND I HAVE 3 GAMES LEFT!!!!
I know that ASU is not what you think of when you think of Heisman trophy winners but come on!! We have a great strength of schedule (Combine opponent record of 68-57) and we've put up numbers against everybody. Please, please take a long hard look at the game tape and insert me in the Heisman trophy conversation.
Thanks,
Taylor

Haha, nice write-ups guys...
FYI, I'm pretty slammed this week, so I may not get to my game until Friday.

Drunk Mustangs persevere
SMU 35, USF 30
The SMU Mustangs survived a scare against USF, despite four turnovers from QB Neal Burcham.
"Yeah, so, basically, I had a long week, and forgot that advance was tonight," Coach Mustard said. "Kinda drunk when I loaded up the PS3 for this one."
Confused reporters asked for clarification, but Mustard abruptly called off the press conference, saying he had an early morning flight to Denver for a friend's wedding.
(I'll be back Monday night... so as long as advance is Monday or Tuesday, I should be able to get my game in.)
