Missouri signs 4 more

Missouri added 4 commits to its recruiting class, signing two gem prospects who are expected to contribute immediately, and two others who are likely to be stashed away as redshirts.

Now the recruiting battle shifts to an offseason in which Mizzou will have some decisions to make. The team is either leading or within striking distance of five prospects rated 4 or 5 stars.

The new commits:

Nebraska wins the B1G title and produces the first shutout in Coach EDJ's career. The shutout was threatened in the final minutes when the backup defense was able to hold on 4th and 1 inside the 5 yard line, stuffing a run up the middle.

Tommy Armstrong was excellent, and Husker faithful hope he can use today's outing to build momentum heading into bull season.

DE Brad Golden has secured the school record for Sacks as well.

Cincinnati inexplicably jumps Nebraska and Alabama in the polls. Stanford loses to #7 USC in the PAC 12 title game. It will be interesting to see where the BCS goes for their top teams. Nebraska likely ends up in the Rose Bowl versus USC. It's an unlikely miracle to see them jump anyone.

AL 31 - MIZZOU 27

The Crimson Tide once again repeat as SEC champions by beating Mizzou in dramatic fashion. It seems like every meeting between these two teams ends up being an instant classic and this game didn't disappoint.

Things got off to a slow start with both teams trading FGs on their first offensive possessions. Alabama scored the first TD of the game on a 19 yd rush by C. Phillips and Missouri responded with a TD pass from Mauk to Copelin to tie things up at 10 in the 2nd quarter. On Alabama's next possession Morris threw a terrible INT to Scherer giving the ball right back to Missouri in great field position. The defense stepped up and held Missouri to a FG and took their next possession down the field for TD pass to end the 2nd quarter with a 17 - 10 lead.

After receiving the second half kickoff, Missouri led a long drive capped off by a TD pass from Mauk to C. Wall to take a 20-17 lead. On the subsequent possession Morris threw his second ill-advised pass for an INT. Four plays later Mizzou got back in the end-zone with Mauk connecting with Green-Beckham for a 27-17 lead with 3:18 left in the third. With Missouri having momentum on their side, and a two score lead the AL offense decided to change the tempo of the game and went to our bread and butter no-huddle running game and quickly scored on a 1 yd rush by  T. J. Yeldon to cut the lead to 3 points with 1:34 left in the third.

After receiving the ball with 1:34 left in the 3rd, Missouri went on a clock killing 14 play drive that took the remaining portion of the third quarter and 4 mins and 2 seconds of the fourth quarter. Just as Missouri was on the Alabama 2 yard line, knocking on the door to score a back breaking TD to seal the game, L. Collins intercepted a Mauk pass in the end zone to give life back to the Crimson Tide.

Still down by three, and with 3:34 left on the clock, Alabama had to make the choice between being aggressive to score, but still managing the clock. This was especially true as we had only 1 timeout left. So the decision was made to play for the last score of regulation whether it was a TD or FG and save the timeout for the FG try if necessary. This strategy was executed to perfection with Alec Morris hitting T. J. Yeldon with a screen pass to put the Crimson Tide ahead with 12 seconds left on the play clock and Missouri out of timeouts. Three Missouri incomplete passes later the game was over and the Crimson Tide victorious.

The last three games between these two teams have been decided by a total of ten points! Awesome game by two awesome teams. Based on things it's looking like a rematch in the SEC championship game next year is more than likely.

Great game man. You played the clock perfectly on that last drive. Gutsy call on that screen play on third and goal, too.
