Changes for next season?
Tue Mar 08, 2016 8:43 pm
With this season coming to an end I'd like some input on how gameplay can be made better. I feel like its real close, the run game is almost perfect, but one problem on offense I see every week.....the pass game is WAY too easy. I just played YT in the conference championship, he said fuck the running game, I can complete 80% of my passes easy, I got hopkins, so why bother grinding a run game? Thats exactly what he did and without 90plus man coverage corners, hes free to destroy everything. Im not a great passer by any means, but 300 yards and 70%+ completion percentage is simple as pie. I dont know what exact sliders need adjustment, but I think something needs to be done....pass accuracy, db play, pass rush...I dunno, anyone got any other thoughts?

Only way i see to toughen passing is to go all madden. Makes for a much better game. I also agree that the penalties are dumb

I can propose boosting pass rush just a tad. League leader in sacks had 16.5 (Vic Beasley Jr). Several others in the 10 to 13 range. I'll boost CPU pass blocking to keep that competitive.
I'd personally want to shy away from boosting pass coverage. Psychic DBs exist enough already as it is. Maybe a combination of a slight dip in QB accuracy and a lower catch slider to allow for more drops? Last season I lessened the speed threshold to avoid garish differences between CBs and WRs. That seemed to help a bit.
I have roughing the passer at 51. It's an either on or off thing. At 50, it doesn't exist. At 51 it's there. At 52+ it's an absolute nightmare.
Other thoughts?

Id rather have it off, it gets pretty silly and keeps drives alive that shouldnt have. Id rather have more psychic db play then passing games that cannot be stopped

I would be in favor of lowering pass blocking and increasing speed threshold (closer to 100, lessens the difference between fast and slow players. I think the most overused plays-- HB toss and drags/crossing routes-- would be less effective if speed differences were lessened. In real life, tosses rarely work because defensive players are plenty fast enough to get to the outside of them.

I am in favor of lowering pass block, increasing pass rush, increasing pass defense. People play max zone most of time so not sure what increasing speed threshold will do. Drags and crossing routes are ran by all players, not just fast players. Having outside speed wrs makes you think twice about heavy blitzing. Same reason that people like big wrs, to out jump smaller dbs. Are we going to increase height threshold?
