Turnovers, defensive collapse doom SMU in Sugar Bowl
Mississippi State 31, SMU 30
Nursing a 30-24 lead, SMU left the fate of its season in the hands of its defense.
And the defense couldn't hold on.
Mr. Mustard offense piled up 413 yards of total offense, but thanks to red zone struggles that contributed to the team's 5 turnovers, he was left watching from the sideline as the entire season slipped away.
With no timeouts and only two minutes to play, a cool and collected Dak Prescott marched Mississippi State down the field for his 3rd TD of the game.
HC June Jones refused to call any of his three timeouts as Mississippi State neared the goalline, leaving Mustard's offense just seconds for a final heave. It was picked off, ending a nightmare day for QB Neal Burcham, who may have lost his chance remain the team's starting QB when Matt Davis returns from his season-ending injury in 2015.
After the game, Mustard was non-committal when asked if he'd return for another year at SMU.

THE SUN DEVILS ARE ROSE BOWL CHAMPS!!
Going into this game if you told me we would have 5 turnovers, throw a pick six, and give up a kick return for a touchdown I would have told you that we lost by 20+. Somehow we won this game by leaning on our two best players on offense (Kelly and Strong) and got a surprise 130+ yard rushing game from our senior HB to beat Oho State. They were the toughest defense we faced by far with almost every other tackle registering as a big hit on the marquee. Our defense needs to be commended as they did just enough to win this game. Holding Ohio State to 8-17 on third down had a lot to do with that along with an INT and fumble recovery.
All-American Jalen Strong was an absolute man among boys and we are already campaigning for him to return next season. We want to be the first ASU team to win a national championship and it starts and ends with Jalen Strong at WR.

FIESTA BOWL CHAMPS !!!
The Falcons certainly soared in the Fiesta Bowl as they dominated the Sooners 37-3. Much of the talk has been about the improved Air Force offense this season but this was a total team effort led by the suffocating defense of the Falcons. Air Force held Oklahoma without a first down in the opening quarter (just 5 total for the game) and RB Jacobi Owens rushed for over 100 yards in the first half as the Falcons went into the locker room up 20-3. Not much changed after halftime as Air Force outscored Oklahoma 17-0 in the second half completing an unexpected domination over the Big 12 representatives.

QB Taylor Kelly - 38/48 for 513 Yards and 5 TD
WR - Jalean Strong - 20 catches for 283 yards and 4 TD
Wow ... Taylor Kelly must have still been upset he didn't get invited to NY for the Heisman presentation and got some help from Jalean Strong to take it out on Ohio State.

Hit it right on the head. Plus Jalean Strong was open all game. For some reason OSU kept on putting 6 in the box and blitzing on obvious passing situations and formations. Just took what the defense gave me.
