(PS4)(PS3) Watch Dogs

What was expected to be a major delay, pushing the game to the fall/winter, is now a pleasant surprise to be launching in a couple months.

Definitely getting this for the PS4.  Main reason why I got the PS4 so soon was this game.

Gamestop mistakenly leaked some details about Watch Dogs. To take more of your money, Ubisoft will use a season pass for the DLC to offer you some sort of savings if you buy everything up front.

$20 gets you the season pass items that feature a separate playable character.

Welp. The game appears to not be amazing. Imagine that, a game not living up to the hype.  Ubisoft has placed an embargo of May 27th, which is launch day, so any reputable sites will not be posting anything until midnight on Tuesday. However, some no-name site has picked up a retail copy early and posted their review.

The good news, the single player is great. So we have that to look forward to.

+ Singleplayer is varied and stunning in terms of missions and things to do
Cons:
- Multiplayer is horrible and repetitive

Well if single player is still fun that's enough for me.  The girls an dI could use a change considering we don't even play GTA V anymore.  This will also come in handy once we take our break from NCAA before starting back up again later this Summer.

I'm going PS4.

I've yet to read the official reviews, but here's my take.  The game has potential to be really enjoyable. 

I'll start with the negatives just to get them out of the way. The driving sucks. It's drivable, but the cars are almost glued to the ground and are indestructible. They're not particularly fun to drive, and while it's hard to get airborn, it's easy to slide all over the place.  And it's so easy to just nudge an AI civilian and see your reputation nosedive from Hero to Vigilante.

The positives: Pretty much everything else so far, just a couple hours in.  If you've played Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, or remember the Strangers and Freaks missions from GTA V, where things are constantly popping up to distract you, then you can expect the same here. But the waypoint system is phenomenal mapping out an easy way to get to your waypoints on the street ahead of you, instead of hiding in the mini-map taking your eyes off the action.  Hacking is a ton of fun, manipulating camera angles to plan out what alarms, bombs, distractions you're gonna unleash on the AI. The AI isn't terribly stupid.  MP Hacking can be a lot of fun and is suspenseful when the other hacker is standing two feet away from you and doesn't even know you're there. I participated in one epic chase after I found one player that hacked me, while also being chased by the AI police for causing mayhem or stealing a vehicle before running down the other player after I destroyed their vehicle. On the other side of things, I was hacking another player, who was running in circles as I hid in a nondescript truck in the middle of traffic. The person I was hacking literally ran between me and the car next to me.  I panicked a bit, and when they ran away I left the stalled traffic and went as far as the challenge circle would let me.  The other player then ran right towards me, yet couldn't discover me for the life of them. Easy money.  However, if getting hacked happens too frequently, it will be a major nuisance.

The graphics are hit and miss. Sometimes, they're just absolutely incredible in pre-rendered cutscenes. Other times, it's jarring how bad they can appear.

Good stuff, I'm enjoying it so far.

Playstation Blog | New DLC releases

Ubisoft has launched some DLC packs. These are the pre-order exclusives originally offered by retailers.  The missions are likely throwaways, I'm not sure. A few extra weapons, nothing too exciting, just a money grab.  This is why pre-orders and exclusives are getting out of hand.

No word on the T-Bone story DLC which is really the only reason I'm holding on to the game.
