Madden 25 Impressions

How is everyone enjoying the game?  What are the early pro's and con's?  Just looking for some views from someone that has actually played since I am at work and won't get teh game until later tonight.

I only played a handful of games on early release, won't pick up the disc until after work. I prefer NCAA actually. The stutter of players trying to react was pretty bad. Hopefully EA can balance that with a patch.
Custom playbooks need to be refined, but it's probably worth the time spent.
The Madden share is very cool. Custom rosters, playbooks, and sliders are all available. They even split user and CPU sliders to help mix and match your experience better.
Online Franchise looks very complex, I'm not sure if people can handle all aspects of being an owner in multiple leagues, there's a lot going on.
The best plus, is importing draft classes. Scouting will be very important, and so owners may have to spend lots of money on a good scout director.

lol for some reason i laughed reading this.

Probably because it's so typical of lobby games and I've experience more than my fair share of it. Because we don't have as big of an NCAA community and I tend to be a night owl, I've play some lobby games where my opponent ran 2 plays all game. There's some weird run play out of a Weak Twins-ish formation that everyone was running against me.

How's the game treating you guys?  I bought it on release day but have yet to take it out of the wrapper. lol

I haven't really played it much yet, tbh. I did play a quick ultimate team games last night, and played around in the Skills Trainer for a while.

My only impression so far is that I do really like the feel of the run game. The sharp cuts you can make with the left stick are pretty awesome. I do kind of worry that it's going to be overpowered when people get good at it, but maybe we can fix that with sliders.

Oh -- and the new audible system is awesome. Can't believe they didn't do it before now.

I remember someone asking about freezing issues. Pasta mentions it might have to do with connecting to the EA servers or with save files.

A bug I noticed VS Ani (he said he saw it in other games too) that we should all be aware of incase it isn't fixed in a patch.

Interception in the endzone. Due to mashing of buttons, lateral after the interception which was an illegal forward pass. The game gave the intercepting team a penalty, but the "accept penalty" option gives the original offensive team the ball at the 1 yard line and it is 3rd and -20. That's not a type. Negative 20. So, be aware.

Impressions after about 10 games:


Like the game way more than I did after my first game. Still think defensive awareness is a little low but not as bad as NCAA. A few balls going right by my guys and they refuse to stick an arm out. I am still getting used to this ballhawk thing too.

The Precision moves thing EDJ told me about (L2) are very explosive and cool. We will have to see if the running game becomes overpowered but I have been racking up serious yardage lately on the ground, which traditionally hasn't been my bread and butter.

Defensive rush and blitzes get to the QB a lot better than in NCAA

Lots of shoe string tackles

Hit sticks generating a lot of fumbles if well-timed.

McCoy's 98 agility combined with those precision moves is just dirty. Your fumbles were ridiculous, you must have built your house on a Madden God's cemetary or something. 

Anyone else noticing a lot of inuries? Last night lost 6 guys in one exhibition. I know there are a lot in real life, just seeing what others have seen so far

Yeah fumbles killed me but again it is Hillman so idk  and injuries are quite high didnt we have like 3 to 5 in our game

We had quite a few. I played a ton of lobby games yesterday and had guys go down a lot. Probably 5+ injuries a game, some minor and some major

I really like the run game so far. The pistol formations are going to be tough to stop

Positives:
Tons of injuries. In a real NFL game it seems like 10+ guys are always banged up in some form or another. Madden has never been close.

Run game seems good. I could never run between the linemen last year.

Receivers with good route running ability get open. No longer just about speed.


Negatives:
Pass defense seems non existent.
Loads of ST touchdowns.
Running QB's gonna dominate.
