What is everyone hearing about their teams' top targets? And how might that impact your Madden direction?
Chicago is putting priority in their offensive line, but a lot of the stopgap measures are veterans who are upgrades, but old and won't last. Most interesting of the likely FA's is Kyle Kosier of the Cowboys who is already 32, but would be one of our top 2 or 3 lineman even if we get Center Olin Kreutz back.
The Bears only have 2 LB's on the roster right now, Urlacher, and Briggs. We NEED a solid player in this cover 2 scheme that's a big hitter, but can cover the field. The Panthers have a young gun, James Anderson that looks good. And I would love to sign Boston College's Mark Herzlich too as an Undrafted FA. The new CBA caps UFA signings though, so teams have to be wise on who they go after from the pool.
WR. Sadly, the Bears target is Brad Smith, not Steve Smith, the Jet's Brad Smith. not too exciting, but Madden makes Knox and Hester more than serviceable. Disappointing considering Braylon Edwards and Santonio Holmes are available, along with Santana Moss. Mike Sims-Walker could even be interesting too.

Cowboys look set to enter another season with a gaping hole at safety.
There's not a guy on the team that's prepared to be a 16-game starter at FS, and word on the street is that SS Gerald Sensabaugh is going to follow Wade Phillips to Houston.
I've heard Michael Huff as a possible target, but I haven't heard anything yet to suggest there's anything serious there. I think it's just a bunch of sportswriters looking at the Cowboys' needs and saying, hey, Michael Huff ... I remember him from Texas! *type type type*
The Cowboys actually seem more likely to make big changes through cuts. Marion Barber, Marc Colombo, Terrance Newman and Roy Williams are all on the chopping block. Barber, Newman and Williams have bloated salaries, and the Cowboys don't want to pay Colombo starter money with Tyron Smith coming in and Colombo fresh off a nasty injury.
Other than the safety spots, the big priority signing is going to be keeping Doug Free.

I have no idea. Pittsburgh typically doesn't go crazy in free agency, choosing instead to focus on signing their own. We NEED to re-sign Ike Taylor or McFadden and Gay will be manning the corners. Woodley is on a franchise tag so he'll need a long term contract.
All of that and we're one of the few teams OVER the cap (about 10M I think) so before we do any signing we'll need to get under.

Madden-wise Im hoping the Jets keep Santonio, braylon, & Cromartie. I can see Santonio being my big playmaker and possibly Braylon & AC as trade bait to bolster the defensive front to my liking. ... And that they do not sign Randy Moss. Please dont. That team has enough Hollywood type players & coaches, they need to tone things down just a tad in my eyes.
As for the Pack, I dont expect anything but signing undrafted FAs as Thompson usually does.
The one thing Id say Im most interested in is probably if Kolb's rumored deal to ARZ for DR-C and a pick is true, that gives Philly 2 ballhawk corners and I absolutely despise that team & city.

Looks like the Steelers have signed 15 undrafted free agents. I only mention it because one of those players was John Clay (RB) from Wisconsin. If we can get half the production out of him that Cougars got in the NCAA11 Dynasty then we'll have once heck of a one-two punch in teh backfield. LOL
The Steelers have agreed to contracts with 15 undrafted free agents, including Wisconsin running back John Clay and South Carolina tight end Weslye Saunders. Joining them in the Steelers` free agent rookie class are Temple tight end Vaughn Charlton, Ohio wide receiver Terrence McCrae, Miami (Ohio) wide receiver Armand Robinson, Furman wide receiver Adam Mims, Central Michigan center Colin Miller, Abilene Christian offensive tackle Trevis Turner, Iowa safety Brent Greenwood, Wisconsin cornerback Niles Brinkley, Citadel outside linebacker Eric Clanton, Marshall inside linebacker Mario Harvey, Clemson defensive end Miguel Chavis, Southern Mississippi defensive tackle Anthony Gray and Idaho wide receiver Eric Greenwood.

Impressive list. I believe there's an Undrafted Free Agent cap, so those players must've signed for cheeeeap. Granted they get more if they make the team, so maybe that's where the cap comes in play.
Nebraska players flooded all over the league, Seattle, Carolina, Chicago, Miami, New York. The Bears signed massive Ricky Henry who if he stays healthy and adjsuts quick enough could be a solid backup for daaaaa Bears!
Oh yeah that felt good. First one of those since the NFL resuscitated itself.

McNabb to the Vikes? Hmmm, not quite sure how to digest that one yet. Deal is said to be done if he'll restructure his deal. No way the Vikes will pay him 12M+ this year. Also talking with Eric Weddle which would be nice. We always need secondary help.
Devin Aromashodu has agreed as well. Thanks EDJ! We're gonna need more WR help because I don't like Percy as a #1. He's much much better in the slot. Rice is looking like he's going to Seattle as of right now and Berrian will probably get cut. I hope Rice stays but everything is indicating he's gone.

As expected.... the big Cowboys news today was all cuts.
MB3 is gone; Roy Williams is gone; and Leonard Davis is gone, which is the only one I really wasn't expecting. Apparently Marc Colombo will be gone, too, once they resign Doug Free. Looks like Terrance Newman might survive another year.
Also as expected, the Cowboys are shopping safeties, but the biggest name they've been linked to so far is Abram Elam. Makes sense, I guess, since he played under Rob Ryan in Cleveland. All things equal, I'd rather have Huff, but Elam should be affordable.

It looks like the Giants are the front runner to get back Plax (which I am pretty shocked about). If they do, our offensive will instantly be pretty tough to stop. Well, besides the fact that we just cut our whole starting O-line!

The Bears are not going after any of the big name receivers. They'd rather spend their money on Matt Forte and Johnny Knox (who said he will expect more money than Hester). Their one target is Brad Smith of the Jets as I've mentioned. But they would want him as their Special Teamer, Situational WR, and 3rd string QB which makes no sense because our draft pick Nate Enderle would then be relegated to the practice squad and could be picked up just like Dan Lefevour last year. New NFL rules force the 3rd string QB to be part of the 55 man roster lineup, instead of an exception like in the past. Stupid f'ing Bears, I know they want versatility, but c'mon.
That said, we signed a bunch of undrafted Olineman. One of them being a Center from Oregon State could be a potential steal. He went undrafted because of a leg injury, but was a 3 year starter and All Pac-10 (not saying much I guess) as a Senior and had to go up against Stephen Paea every day in practice.
The Vikes don't need McNabb, Ponder/Webb will produce and make just as many mistakes as him. Devin Aromashodu is vastly underrated, but he also has a diva attitude and doesn't want to try unless the ball is coming his way. Good luck Commando.
Linebacker is now Chicago's priority as it looks like they may enter a bidding war for the Jaguars Justin Durant and try to retain Nick Roach as a backup (something he would reportedly be ok with).

Santonio stays in NY, good news for my madden future. Better news would be if they somehow made enough room for Nnamdi Asomugha, I think if that happens I may hold onto him and see what he can do this in M12.

I am trying to figure out if you are an actual Jet fan or just excited b/c you have the team in Madden! LOL
Santonio is a great re-sign for the Jets. And if they get NA, their defense will be RIDICULOUS!

Plaxico to the Giants a done deal ... not so fast. Big Plax could return to da Burgh. I would LOVE this in real life and in Madden. If it comes down to wanting to play for Couglin or Tomlin ... I think Plax would easily choose Tomlin.

Im a Packer fan but Im from NY so I support the Jets in sort of a little brother way. They're not as loved or as successful as the Giants, kinda like Mets/Yankees, and Ive always rooted for them to try and get over the hump but they seem to just fall short whenever theyve got a good team. But with our salary cap in here I dont see how Ill be able to keep most of these guys lol

League Manager is going to offer a real monetary salary cap setup. So whatever these guys sign for will be reflected in our Franchise. Ratings will no longer be dictated by the "Ovr" rating, but instead by their worth to a team which is only partially reliant on "Ovr" but for most it's dictated by Speed and nothing else. smh

Reggie Bush to Miami.
Donovan McNabb to Minnesoooooota.
Albert Haynesworth to fricking New England and their 3-4 defense?!
And now the Bears are shopping Greg Olsen for trade.
And here I am stating trades never happen in the NFL and I just posted 3 scenarios, and we're still waiting for the Iggles to dump Kevin Kolb.
Also, Jets are now reported at $10 mil under the cap, making them the favorites to land Nnamdi, with the 'niners in 2nd place.
