The Illini Overcome Dreadful Start, Stifle the Sun Devils to escape by 7.
I
lllinois falters early, holds Arizona State to 7 in the 2nd half as the Illini escape 34-27. The Illini offense was led by the balanced rushing attack of Donovonn Young and Josh Ferguson, who both accumulated over 100 yards on the ground and a combined 91 yards through the air. Wes Lunt was magnificent in a rebound game where he threw for 283 Yards, 3 TDs and 1 INT. Arizona State was able to give the Illini fits until a 2nd half adjustment.
Coach Brown: "The way the coach of the Sun Devils runs his offense can be quite irritating, the constant no huddle just slows our team down. We were eventually able to overcome the odds, as i brought in Coach Davis of the Virginia Tech Hokies to give our team a halftime pep talk, as he was very familiar with the squad, due to his many years in the Pac-12 Conference. We thank him for taking his time out of his busy schedule to drill us with the much needed fire that we needed."
Final Score: 34-27 Illini
Next up is a showdown with Coach Mustard and the Mizzou Tigers as the Arch Rivalry is renewed once more. Who will win come out on top, The Show Me state, or the Land of Lincoln. It's up to you guys to find out. Tune in next week, this is Brad Grisham signing off of Oskee-Wow-Wow Weekly.

Growing Pains
The Huskers entered their game with the Kansas Laughingstocks Jayhawks expecting utter domination. Instead, they found a scrappy team that wasn't going down without a fight. Or at least a bucket of fried chicken for Charlie Weis to chow down on. The Jayhawks aired the ball out all game long, amassing over 300 yards passing. In the first half alone, the Jayhawks had twice as many plays, twice as many yards, and twice as many first downs than their Husker counterparts. The only things stopping them, were themselves as drops on 4th and 3rd downs ended drives.
The Kansas defense also was pouncing on Husker star players left and right. Top WR duo Kenny Bell and Jamal Turner were held to a combined 1 catch for 17 yards and 1 drop. Ameer Abdullah had only 50 yards rushing. And Nebraska fans held their collective breath when Tommy Armstrong went down, and Freshman Johnny Stanton had to manage the offense. Poorly at that.
Bobby Hale was seen warming up, but Armstrong could return and led the Huskers on a 37 second scoring drive just before halftime to keep the score close heading into halftime, Kansas led 13-10 as the Jayhawks one-upped Armstrong's 37 second drive, with a 15 second drive of their own.
The third quarter was a mess of each team trading blows. The Huskers finally found the end zone as the quarter expired. The 4th quarter saw Kansas draw within 4 points before Freshman RB Terrell Newby returned a kickoff 106 yards for a TD. The downfall started when Kansas had a 4 offensive plays that went sack - sack - sack - interception. From there, Armstrong and Kicker Bondi just drove the stake into Kansas' heart.

Nebraska hosts the Buckeyes to open Conference play early in the year. The crazy gauntlet the Huskers had to finish the year with is now at the start of the year faces Ohio State, followed by Penn State, Michigan State, and Michigan.

AALoA GAME OF THE WEEK
#14 Penn State at #12 Michigan State
This week's Game of the Week brings us a battle of Top 15 teams as #14 Penn State travels to East Lansing to face #12 Michigan State. Both teams have aspirations of going to Indianapolis so this early season conference matchup will give one team a jump start towards that while the other will be playing catch up the rest of the year. This should be an interesting matchup that pits one of the best offenses (Penn State) against one of the best defenses (Michigan State) against each other. Sophomore QB Christian Hackenberg leads Penn State into this battle and he has been sensational so far completing 70.7% of his passes for 694 yards with 5 TD and just 2 INT. Trying to stop him will be a Spartan defense lead by All-American DE MArcus Rush who was last season's AALoA User DL of the Year. Will the Nittany Lions take the next step behind Hackenberg's leadership? Can Rush and the Spartans front seven make life hell for the sophomore?- Steel PittNCAA 11, 13, 14 BCS Champ

Bruins Doomed By Self Inflicted Wounds
The Iowa Hawkeyes traveled to southern California to take on the UCLA Bruins and the home crowd was not happy with what they saw. Coach Gruden has been at his wits end as starting QB Brett Hundley has been throwing the ball to the other team at a staggering rate. Unfortunately for him that trend continued as UCLA QB's threw 8 picks total (6 by Brett Hundley).
Things turned rocky early for the Bruins as Hundley threw picks on each of the first three drives and the Hawkeyes took full advantage turning them into points as they built a 21-0 halftime lead. With starting QB Jake Rudock out with an injury, Coach Steel Pitt turned to redshirt Freshmen QB Nic Shimonek to lead the team. With a young QB behind center, Coach Steel Pitt leaned heavily on the running game and a stout defense pull threw. He did let the youngster throw and Shimonek gave the Coach reason to believe as UCLA scored a TD late in the third to pull to within 14 points, but the young signal caller quickly ended any comeback attempts with his first throw of the next drive when he connected on a 75 yard TD pass to WR Jacob Hillyer.
CB Sean Drape would then get a pick 6 to extend the Hawkeyes lead to 35-7 entering the fourth. The Hawkeyes went on for the comfortable 38-14 victory despite being outgained by UCLA. Next up for Iowa is the annual battle with Iowa State for the Cy-Hawk Trophy.

PSU loses at Mich ST 14-13
Really played the way I game planned it with a lot of runs and short passes to combat the Michigan State pass rush. With a 13-7 lead late in the 4th, PSU looked to take a 2 possession lead but Freshman RB Butler fumbled in field goal range around the 25. Michigan State scored to go up by 1. TE Carter couldn't hold onto a 3rd down pass so PSU punts and MSU milks the clock the last 3:50 to hold on for the win.
Tough loss with the fumble and a few dropped picks. Good news is that my defense was awesome for once.

Tigers beat Tigers to end skid
Missouri 30, LSU 14
When is the Tiger on Tiger violence gonna end?
The Missouri Tigers ended a 2-game skid, finally notching their first win of 2014 against the No. 16 LSU Tigers.
Despite the win, Coach Mustard was in his typical grouchy mood after the game, and used the post-game press conference to complain about his team's schedule.
"I mean, come on man," Mustard said, shaking a piece of paper at reporters. "I know this schedule was partly our own fault, but this is stupid.
"Week 1 -- Nebraska. Defending national champs and No. 2 in the country. Week 2 -- Virginia Tech, No. 6 in the country, and would be higher if they hadn't dropped their first game. Week 3 -- LSU, No. 16. Week 4 -- Alabama, No. 1 in the country.
"Our first non-ranked game isn't until week 5, and that's against the same freaking team that beat us in a bowl game last year," Mustard continued. "Then we get a nice little break against Vanderbilt, but OH WAIT, it's a road game.
"So, Week 7. Week 7's gotta be when the schedule gets easy, right? AT NO. 21 GEORGIA. Week 8: No. 24 Auburn. Week 9? A nice cozy home game against South freaking Carolina.
"I need a drink," Mustard said, walking out of the room.
