Classic Rosters File - 1986 and 1999 Roster Sets

Wassup fellas.  I was on Operation Sports and came across the thread below (link provided).  One of the roster guys over there is creating a roster file for the PS4 based on the actual 1986 rosters.  He can't alter appearances so he takes players that look like the person he's creating, changes the name, uniform, etc but he also tweaks the ratings to try and best reflect that player's ability that year.  I downloaded his rosters in Madden 15 (he did 1989 and 1995) and they were pretty good.

If anything, they are a fun way to get a little more out of the Madden experience, especially in Play Now.  It seems like he's only done with the AFC Central so far but will be giving updates as he finishes divisions.  He is also planning to make a 1999 roster set as well.

LOL, if it makes you feel better I think he's now working on a 1999 roster set.

I say just skip the 90's for the NFL. College football? More than ok. Basketball? Sure thing!

Pitt, I'll download the roster file shortly and we'll have to play a game or two via Share Play since we can't do custom online games.  I played Posky that way on NBA 2K15 last year and the timing seemed fine.

Its a nice change of pace to play with LT and that 86 Giants D or run with Eric Dickerson and the 86 Rams or the beginning of the Greatest Show on Turf with the 99 Rams or tossing it up with Cunningham to Moss/Carter with the 99 Vikings.

If anyone is interested, let me know if you want to try a share play game with either of these rosters (especially now as we wait for the playoffs to be completed and season 3 to begin).

The first Share Play Showdown with classic rosters was a success. My 86 Bears rolled over Pitt's 86 Rams.  Walter Payton did Walter Payton things, tallying over 150 yards rushing. The Monsters of the Midway corralled Eric Dickerson, holding him to 2.5 yards per carry.  Neither Bears/Rams QB was very effective, completing under 50% of their passes.

The nostalgia factor was through the roof. The roster creators went all out adjusting equipment to add neck rolls and long sleeves and all that. The ratings felt on par, with stars playing like stars, and lesser pleebs wasting oxygen.

Yeah, it was fun and like I mentioned surprisingly smooth in terms of gameplay.  The roster maker did a nice job with not just creating the rosters but also changing the equipment and ratings to give a real throwback feel to it (especially when you add the throwback uni's).

Let me know if you want to run another one or if anyone else wants to run one.  86 or 99 rosters.

Definitely do.  They are nasty (Smith, Carter, Moss, Cunningham, etc) ... although I think the roster maker seriously short changed Moss in terms of speed.  But nonetheless, they are sick.

Maybe we can get a game 99 Vikings vs the 99 Rams and see if we can hit 100 total points, lol.
