I Tawt I Taw a Puddy Tat
Winner winner Tiger dinner as the Huskers extend the longest active win streak in the nation and open up their title defense giving fans, and opposing coaches a lot to think about. The Tigers opened the game with the ball, but instantly turned it over with Pirate Maty Mauk (arrrrr Maty) giving Josh Mitchell an easy catch. The Big Red offense couldn't make much of the great field position and had to settle for a field goal. Missouri used the opportunity to to bounce back and take a 7-3 lead. Mauk would drive the Tigers down the field and find sasquatch WR Dorian Green Beckham on a slant for 6. DGB towers over defenders and would be a matchup nightmare for Shaq...Nebraska opened up the 2nd quarer with 17 points though and never looked back. Another Bondi field goal led to a 50 yard Tommy Armstrong Jr run for a TD. Mizzou didn't seem dazed at all, and executed a beautiful drive down the field, drawing within 3 with 42 seconds to go in the half. Armstrong worked some magic though (T-Magic?) and led a 32 second scoring drive capping it off with a 3 yard TD run with 3 seconds left.
The 2nd half was all defense really. Nebraska did score a goalline TD on a 3rd and goal play action pass from the 1. The interesting finish of the game was Missouri scoring late and going for 2 to draw with eight points. Mauk looked for the back pylon on a flag route, and senior safety Corey Cooper stepped in front of the ball and returned the 2 point conversion for 2 points of his own.
Both QBs on the field completed over 70% of their passes on the day. Mauk was harassed with a few sacks and the early INT before he settled down. Armstrong led the teams in rushing, but the Tigers did a decent job of corralling Abdullah. And Missouri was held to under 20 yards rushing on the day.

Next week Nebraska gets to travel to Boise, ID to play on the Smurf Turf against the top 25 rated Broncos. It should be a great matchup if the HUskers can avoid the jet lag. The only other non-conference game on Nebraska's schedule is an old border rivalry with Kansas. A mere warm-up before the B1G opening gauntlet of Ohio State (BK_Buckeye), a short bye week, and then Penn State (illmatic_216), and Michigan State (SquirrelHunter), followed by perennial big dogs Michigan (CPU). Nebraska then has a decidedly easier schedule before facing former Offensive Coordinator Tim Beck at Minnesota before hosting Iowa, in a game that can have major implications potentially.

Physician's Warning: Smurf Turf Causes Headaches
Nebraska overcomes eye sores to thoroughly defeat Boise State. Boise's defense is very sound, but the blue jerseys on blue turf combination made it incredibly difficult to read defenders on the field. Tommy Armstrong was really, really good with some big time pass plays outside of having to continuously check down to due to great coverage. If Boise State had a decent QB, the game could've ended differently. But their scrambler was scared to throw and took off almost immediately each time they wanted to pass.Final Score

Growing Pains
The Huskers entered their game with the Kansas The Kansas defense also was pouncing on Husker star players left and right. Top WR duo Kenny Bell and Jamal Turner were held to a combined 1 catch for 17 yards and 1 drop. Ameer Abdullah had only 50 yards rushing. And Nebraska fans held their collective breath when Tommy Armstrong went down, and Freshman Johnny Stanton had to manage the offense. Poorly at that.
Bobby Hale was seen warming up, but Armstrong could return and led the Huskers on a 37 second scoring drive just before halftime to keep the score close heading into halftime, Kansas led 13-10 as the Jayhawks one-upped Armstrong's 37 second drive, with a 15 second drive of their own.
The third quarter was a mess of each team trading blows. The Huskers finally found the end zone as the quarter expired. The 4th quarter saw Kansas draw within 4 points before Freshman RB Terrell Newby returned a kickoff 106 yards for a TD. The downfall started when Kansas had a 4 offensive plays that went sack - sack - sack - interception. From there, Armstrong and Kicker Bondi just drove the stake into Kansas' heart.

Nebraska hosts the Buckeyes to open Conference play early in the year. The crazy gauntlet the Huskers had to finish the year with is now at the start of the year faces Ohio State, followed by Penn State, Michigan State, and Michigan.

Simulated loss to Ohio State Buckeyes 14-40. Tebow tears for everybody.
Key notes: Tommy Armstrong got injuried in the game.
Freshman Johnny Stanton didn't do very good throwing, and ran the ball 3 times as much as stud RBs Ameer Abdullah and Imani Cross.
