Current Feedback:

truth_n_babylon wrote:I have played one game so far with the sliders. It was a MAC game (Kent St. v BG). These were pretty evenly matched teams. I had no problem moving my offense. The cpu offered very little resistance to the passing attack. I thought the cpu run defense was about right. I suggest bumping cpu pass coverage up 5 or 10 points and upping the pass rush by 5. I feel the cpu fg accuracy should be bumped up as well by 5.

Defensively, I shut them down for the most part. The cpu got off one big pass play on an out route where I was going for the pick and missed. The cpu run game wasn't all that dominant but then again it was just a mac school.

I'll toy around with these more tomorrow.

As a suggestion for those trying out the sliders, you may want to do so in the following situations to get an accurate feel:

1) Choose two teams that are evenly matched.
2) Choose a lop-sided matchup in your favor. Play as a BCS Power (user) vs a MAC or WAC bottom feeder (cpu) as you should would think that you should win that game handily.
3) Choose a lop-sided matchup in the CPU favor. Play as a MAC / WAC bottom feeder (user) vs a BCS Popwer (cpu) as you would expect a near perfect game on your part just to make it competitive.

I just tried out this set on OS and it was uh... challenging to say the least. A&M whooped me 38-21 at home.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

A lot of it is I'm not real comfortable throwing the ball yet this year, so the score was inflated by interceptions I threw. I'm still adjusting to the smarter defenses.

I will say that I really enjoyed playing against the CPU's offense with these. The CPU running back was a challenge, but didn't feel cheap. The QB scrambled quite a bit in the first half, then when I adjusted, he started picking me apart through the air.

I'll give the ones you posted a try either tonight or tomorrow and give some feedback.

EDIT: Actually, it looks like SEC has already made some adjustments that might make them a little easier. I put in the sliders this weekend, so I didn't have the lower INT slider and a few other things.

I tried these tonight for a couple of quarters and the little time I spent with them I enjoyed. I'll contiue to check them out. If anyone else gets a chance, try out these sliders and let me know what you think.

Played an evenly matched game with your sliders: Nebraska vs Michigan State

Weird flow to the game. In the first half, Nebraska couldn't be stopped. In the second half, Michigan State made ridiculous plays to storm back and tie the game forcing overtime. Waaaayy too many sacks as well. Baker Steinkuhler for Nebraska had 5 by himself!

On MSU's 71 yard TD Pass, my player refused to attempt to tackle the WR. I bumped into him and kept running through him out of bounds. Came back in bounds and made contact again and there was no tackle attempt! MSU's 2nd longest TD pass was more expected, I blitzed and my coverage just wasn't in that spot. MSU's 3rd TD pass was horseshit. With max coverage, I rushed three and dropped back 8 (3 Deep, 3 Hooks, 2 Flats). Whoever was in the deep middle refused to drop back and was more shallow than my hook zone LBs. Wide open TD in the middle of the end zone... o_0

T Magic 12/25 Passing for 181 Yards. 2 TDs Star FS for MSU had two Hank Aaron-esque INT's. Long of 57
K Cousins 18/24 Passing for 262 Yards. THREE TDs, ZERO INT's Long of 71

R Burkhead 12 Car, 49 Yards 1 TD 4.0 Avg
T Magic 7 Car, 12 Yards 1 TD (2 Sacks)
2 others: 2 Car, 26 Yards
E Baker 17 Car, 69 Yards 4.0 Avg
K Cousins 15 Car -41 Yards (9 Sacks)
2 Others: 2 Car 8 Yards

8 Different Receivers
6 Different Receivers

DT B Steinkuhler 5 Sacks
DE C Meredith 2 Sacks
DT J Crick 1 Sack
DE E Martin 1 Sack
2 DT's 1 Sack each

Return game was ok on both sides despite "nerfing" the power. Speed threshold being zeroed wiped out the edge rushing game. The faster LB's could get outside on any run and force you up the middle (on both sides of the ball). CPU QB held on to the ball way too long, and was still too accurate in my opinion. Still need to try a power and scrub type game though to offer more insight. CPU pass rush seemed pretty close to perfect. My first sack was a deep developing route combo, and the 2nd one I tried to scramble and got caught outside.

Observations of sliders:
Big Dog vs Little Puppy
My Cornhuskers were destroying the Rice Owls 28-7 near the end of the 3rd Quarter. About to score, I jumped into a user game against you Pitt.

Little guy vs. the BCS Big Boys
My Ohio Bobcats lost to Ohio State 30-24. Boom Herron had well over 200 yards rushing. Penalties and fumbles kept me in the game. Running game felt ok despite the Read Option being broken against superior opponenets (No blocking). Deep passing game was still wide open though, might need to find a way to tweak that.

I've been trying out SECElite (operation Sports) sliders with a couple of modifications. I updated the first post to reflect the settings. I played two games:

Georgia (me) vs Arkansas
Georgia (me) vs Florida

I blew Arkansas out (something like 38-7). The deep passing game seemed a little too easy and there didn't seem to be much of a risk for making a bad read in the passing game on his original set. Also, the User running seemed too easy (especially considering I decided to use their 3rd string RB with teh first two no longer on the team).

I lowered the user RB Ability and bumped up the CPU Run Blocking, Pass Coverage and interceptions. I beat Florida 31-27 in a real good game. This felt much better. I will continue to test and tweak.

Uhhhh how are the sliders working for everyone else?

I just tried to play Wisconsin and had to turn it off at halftime...
James White 11 carries, 230 Yards, 3 TDs.
Rex Burkhead 8 carries, -2 Yards

It was 35-10 at the half. pale

Haha yeah, I hear ya.

I just found SEC's newest slider set he posted today. Made the game a thriller.
Nebraska vs. Wisconsin, I lost 37-24 in Overtime. How you say? Psychic CB took a pick 6 back to win by 2 scores in OT. The game was much better (not really), even though I modified the sliders a bit.

On the last play of the game I throw a Hail Mary and catch it in traffic in the back of the end zone. Game was close minus my 5 INT's. Mad

Running game suuuucked though for both teams. Less than 3 YPC per team. Wisconsin QB had 18 carries for 5 yards because of the roster glitch. He had more carries than James White! Nebraska had 19 Carries for 18 Yards. I think I need to go back to default sliders and try again. And this roster glitch is awful.

Had 9 Sacks on defense too.

I just tried to play for the first time in a week and a half and it just wasn't fun, I dunno if its cuz I'm all geeked up on NFL but I'm seriously thinking about trading this in for madden, at least gamestop will give me 30 bucks for it still. Never been a big college ball guy, I wanted to try this year cuz it seemed like you guys were having alot of fun with it, but I'm just not a huge fan of this game thusfar.

Wassup Hippo, I definitely feel where you're coming from. After I vented last week about my dislike of the passing game, I didn't touch the game in about a week. With all the NFL free agency activity taking place, I've found myself really, really, really looking forward to Madden. lol Honestly, had I not been the Commish of the Dynasty I probably wouldn't have picked the game back up at all and just said I'll wait until Madden.

I feel I over-committed (agreeing to run two Dynasties) after enjoying last year's version so much and now I'm almost trying to force myself to like this game. I've been working on the sliders to make the game more enjoyable (win or lose) so hopefully that helps. However, I totally understand where you're coming from so if you feel like you'd rather participate in Madden alone I'd totally understand. Just remember to save me a game in Madden since you decided to leave the AFC North (you're the Lions, right?).

All of this NFL activity has me looking forward to Madden. I was surprised to see that it doesn't come out until Aug 30th. Doesn't it usually get released the second or third Tuesday of August?

I hope Plaxico decides to sign with the Steelers as that would be a real nice addition to the team (real life and Madden).

Pitt: where do you have your speed threshold on these sliders?

Reading through SEC's thread, he and a bunch of other posters say that's pretty important. My understanding of how it works — the lower the threshold, the more difference there is between fast players and slow players.

So, as an example, you might see more separation between WRs and DBs with a lower threshold. And, hopefully, you might see LBs with slower closing speed when the defense is in a zone. I think SEC has his in the 40-45 range.

Played with the new sliders.

Michigan vs San Diego State

I only played offense cuz this game bores me to tears right now and playing D woulda made it unbearable.

SDSU has a line of pro bowlers, as they shredded my blocks with ease. this is a good michigan line too. Besides a 62 yarder i busted, my top HB who is 87 ovr ran 25 times for 47 yards. Yeah.

went 13-30 passing, with Denard its expected, problem is, while on the run, being the running QB he is, his accuracy was horrendous compared to in the pocket. deep game is wide open, auto TD if you get pass protection.

Play action is broke, draw plays are just silly to attempt, all and all, I'm hating this game more and more each time I turn it on.

I'm going in the opposite direction. I am liking the game again, more and more, each time I play especially since I started using the new sliders. I played a great game with my teambuilder teams and lost 17-13 (Fordham vs Harvard). I recently played as Arizona and beat Oregon on the road 48-41 in a great game. The Oregon offense was rolling but the difference was I had 2 kickoff returns for TD.

I do agree that play-action, especially vs the CPU, is pretty much useless (automatic sack). I'm always tempted to run the draw play because the CPU has so much success running it against me, but it never works for me.

The roster glitch is annoying though. I played Stanford and while Andrew Luck is mobile, he ran 15+ vs me and only threw about 15 passes. I also played a game against Nebraska in which Taylor Martinez refused to just take off running.

There are flaws but I am liking the sliders and, like I said, I find myself playing more and more.

For some reason, I think this year's NCAA is really fun. I guess I don't sweat the small stuff. If I weren't so busy I'd play more, and I'm excited to start but I feel like as Madden nears, I'd lose interest here. Hope not!

Slider Impressions:

Game 1:
Washington vs. Nebraska
Human passing is insanely difficult. Taylor Martinez only completed 35% of his passes. He had 6 completions, 4 of them to 1 player who was always open for some reason. On the other hand, Washington's Price hovered around 55% as expected, but he would make ridiculous lob after ridiculous lob right at my player who would just watch it sail by for a completion.

Human rushing was worse than passing. I averaged 2.1 yards per carry with Burkhead. Martinez would've been right around 2 ypc, but he did rip off a 67 yard TD run on a Read Option of all plays. CPU running felt about right. Washington's Chris Polk was only at about 3 yards per carry, but he was bruising through my defenders with no issues.

Pass rush still garnered 8 sacks since Price refused to scramble.

I won 24-10. Outside of the T-Magic run, Bubba Starling did get a nice TD catch, and my Safety had a Pick 6.

Game 2:
Nebraska vs. Wisconsin
Had to visit these haunted grounds to see what James White would do to me with these slider sets. Answer, he was respectable, with 3.6 YPC. But since we have RB Ability jacked up, Wisco QB Budmayr was insane with a 4.5 ypc and 6 broken tackles. Rushing was "wide open." I average 1.7 and 2.5 ypc with Rex and Taylor respectively. confused

Passing-wise, the CPU loooooved the slants and lobs to the middle of the field. I couldn't stop it. Budmayr was around 53% completion on the game with 200+ yards. 1 TD and 2 INTs. With Nebraska, Martinez went 14/27 for a 51% completion rate and 182 yards which is just pitiful when you consider 80 of those yards came on 1 play. 3 TD's and 2 INTs.

Despite the running game challenges, this was a thriller. White gouged me on the first series of the game. Nebraska went down 14-0 and with 18 seconds left, Brandon Kinnie caught a short TD pass to make it 7-14 at half. At the end of the 3rd Quarter it was Kinnie again catching a beautifully executed Post pass for a 46 yard TD to draw even. Nebraska and Wisconsin traded INT's late in the game. With 20 seconds left, I called an Option Pass. Wisconsin blitzed (psychic AI) and I pulled up and got rid of the ball. QB/WR Jamal Turner went 80 yards for the go ahead TD from a short flag route. How sad, 126 of Martinez's 182 passing yards were on two plays. Le sigh.

I've played a lot more games these sliders and I like them more and more. The running game feels right to me on both sides. I've been able to plug away with good backs for 4-5 yards a clip and the occassional big play (same for the CPU) and that's running out of my Pro PB (Ace and 2-Backs) as well as my Air Raid (all 3-4 WR sets). I wonder if you are having issues because you are trying to run a spread/read option running attack?

The passing game seems ok too. I am around 40-50% completion with below average QB's, around 55% with decent QB's and on a good game I can get to 60-65%. The issues I've seen with the passing game is the CPU doesn't seem to take many chances deep as I see a lot of 12-20 for 100 yards type games.

But I've played a good 10-15 games with these and haven't felt the need to change any of the settings. Hopefully they play the same after the patch.

While I need to rebalance my playbook a bit and add another I-form type formation or something, I've struggled with Pistol, Flexbone, Shotgun, and I-Formation runs just getting blown up. My best luck has been scrambling with Martinez when the defense sells out to stop the pass. I'll have to try a couple other games with other teams/playbooks.

Not only the patch, but EA is going to be implementing their first "Tuner Pack" around the same time that's going to completely retool the AI based on community feedback.

I just started my Patriot/Ivy League (using Fordham) Dynasty over the weekend and had four good games using these sliders. I got smacked (as expected) by FSU and Arkansas, had a great game vs Harvard that wasn't decided until late in the fourth and a blowout win vs Princeton.

I am using my Custom Air Raid PB and passing about 60-70% of the time. While the deep ball still feels too easy at times, the passing game in general feels good. The defense doesn't feel like a bunch of HOFers but you still have to make good reads, etc. I still threw my share of picks but they all felt deserved.

I need to play another game or two, but I also wanted to throw out that "Jistics" has a fairly rabid following on OS. He's not as scientific as the others, he just wants an even game.
OS: Jistics' Slider Set
If someone tries them, how are they? He kind of went in the opposite direction and boosted the sliders instead of lowering them.
