No post this week.
I'm getting an invite out to beachlife very shortly. I won't allow new users after week 8.

Just like in years past, last minute scheduling attempts will not award you an auto-pilot game or guaranteed win.

If Commando or Pitt have time, they can spruce up the weekly post. I'm heading out to the Huskers-Illini game Saturday. Maybe I'll storm the Big Ten Live's tailgate.  #GBR.

Week advances Monday night.

AALoA 2016 Season - Week 7

No Problem by Chance the Rapper is the song choice for Week 7.  No real rhyme or reason just the flavor of the month for me when get on the bike at the gym.

We are six weeks in, closing in on the midway point of the season and no user has been able to separate themselves within their division.  In fact, the largest division lead is 2 games by the CPU controlled Seattle Seahawks (5-0) in the NFC West.  That just makes every game that much more important because its looking more and more likely that division crowns, bye weeks and playoff berths in general will be decided by tie-breakers so a win in Week 7 could play a big role in determining where and if you play in the NFL's second season.

Chasing Perfection

4 teams remain unbeaten entering Week 7 including 3 user teams ... Giants, Eagles and Colts.  As Mark Schlereth seems to say every week (and I'm paraphrasing here) ... "I don't expect any team to go undefeated but who will lose first?"

Chasing History

Six games in and the Luck-Hilton connection in Indianapolis in on a record pace.  Andrew Luck has thrown for 1,903 yards and 20 TD while TY Hilton has 1,106 receiving yards and 11 TD receptions already.  At this pace Luck will throw for 5,075 yards and 53TD, while Hilton is on pace for an absurd 2,949 receiving yards and 29TD receptions.

Trade Deadline

Just a reminder that the trade deadline is fast approaching (Week 8 ) so update your trade blocks no and get on the phones with other GM's if you want to make any deals.

Game of the Week

This week's marquee matchup takes us to country music country as the Colts (6-0) travel to Tennessee to take on the Titans (5-1).  The Colts will be trying to put two games between themselves and the Titans (Jags also only have one loss in the division) while the Titans would love to create a three way tie (in the loss column) for first in the AFC South.  The Colts defense will have to find a way to slow down the duo of Murray and Henry while the Titans secondary will surely be tested by the Luck-Hilton connection.

Eagles 41 - Vikings 10

The Eagles move to 6-0 with a convincing victory over the Vikings in front of the home crowd.  The Vikings took the opening kick and drove down the field for a TD on their opening possession but the Eagles defense made sure there weren't any future trips to the end zone for the visitors.  The Eagles defense held the Vikings to just 38 yards rushing, sacked Bridgewater 5 times and forced 2 turnovers (a pick in the end zone to end a Vikings scoring opportunity and then a fumble which the Eagles returned for a TD).  The Eagles offense wasn't spectacular but effective as Carson Wentz completed 60% of his passes on his way to 275 yards passing, 2TD and most important 0 turnovers.

Not all the news was good for the Eagles, however, as star DT Fletcher Cox left the game with a hip injury.  Further tests show that its significant enough to keep him out for a minimum of 8 weeks.  The Eagles brass made quick work to fill the void in the meantime trying to upgrade the DT spot by signing DT Ra'Zahn Howard off of the Dallas Cowboys practice squad and onto their active roster.  To make room, the Eagles cut DT Demetrius Anderson (from the practice squad) and moved rookie DT Destiny Vaeao to the practice squad.

That should add extra fuel to next week's matchup between division foes as the Eagles will travel to Jerry World next week looking to keep the momentum going.

Browns 3 - Bengals 41

Les Miles has taken over the head coaching duties for the Cincinnati Bengals after his firing at LSU. He brought along his offensive coordinator Cam Cameron and they had a magnificent first game against the Cleveland Browns.

Offensively Andy Dalton was 10-17 for 228 yards with 3 TDs with a QBR of 142.8. He was able to spread the ball around well as 4 receivers caught a pass and 3 different receivers caught a TD. Green came away with 5 catches for 101 yards and a TD, LaFell had 2 catches for 60 yards and a TD, and rookie Tyler Boyd caught his first TD on a 12 yard in route. Miles brought his usual run heavy offense and the Bengals duo of Hill and Bernard gashed the Browns' defense for 199 yards. Hill had 20 carries for 101 yards and 2 TDs and speedy Bernard had only 4 carries but was able to carve up the D for 92 yards and a TD. Defensively the team held the Browns to just 183 yards of total offense and came away with 1 fumble recovery. The defensive line was able to sack RG3 twice as well as block a FG try late in the 4th quarter.

Despite this success the team is still focused on next weeks matchup against the Redskins and will be looking to pull ahead in the division with another win.

I'm watching these late afternoon NFL games and by far the most exciting game was the AALoA Game of the Week between the Colts (YtBalla) and Titans (NickofTime).  Wow.  I'll let those guys give you the details but what a game.

GG both guys.

AALoA Game of the Week between the top offenses in the NFL lived up to the hype. Link to the full game: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

The 6-0 Colts took on the 5-1 Titans. The first half was nothing like the fans were expecting. Neither offense could really move the ball like they wanted. The Colts and their explosive offense were completely held in check. Andrew Luck started the game with two turnovers, a three and out, and only managed to put 3 points on the board. On the other side of the ball, the Titans couldn't get their running game going. However, Marcus Mariota was able to pick up the slack and lead them on two touchdown drives that were finished off by some tough Demarco Murray runs. Titans entered halftime with a 13-3 lead.

In the second half, everything changed. It began with the Titans receiving the ball first. In two plays Murray broke a run right up the middle for a 70 yard touchdown. Titans extend their lead 20-3.

With their backs against the wall, the Colts offense finally decided to join the game. Luck made throw after throw to methodically drive them down the field, and Frank Gore capped the drive with a 15 yard run weaving back and forth between defenders. 20-10, Titans.

After getting the ball back, the Titans decided to go right back to their workhorse. On the first play, Murray took the ball off the right tackle and was gone for 80 yards. 27-10, Titans.

Not to be outdone, Luck, three plays later, identified single coverage on TY Hilton for the first time all game and completed a 75 yard pass to him for a touchdown. 27-17, Titans. The Titans stalled on their next two drives with a three and out and an interception. Luck took advantage after both leading them down the field with smart throws and timely scrambles before ultimately finding TY Hilton for a 40 yard TD and Phillip Dorsett for another. 31-27, Colts.

Still reeling from two poor drives, the Titans offense was unable to do anything on their next drive and was forced to punt the ball back to the Colts who attempted to run the remaining 5 minutes off the clock. They looked to be successful, however a fumble by Dwayne Allen in the red zone gave Tennessee life once more. This time, the Titans responded. Mariota was brilliant. The Colts had no answer. 34-31, Titans.

This left Luck with 34 seconds to move the Colts 40-50 yards to get into field goal range. The Titans decided to play it safe and backed the defenders up, trying not to get beat deep. Luck took what the defense gave him, and Frank Gore did the rest, turning the 10 yard pass into a 40 yard gain. This left a 55 yard field goal for the most clutch kicker in NFL history, and Adam Vinatieri delivered. We have overtime, 34-34.

OT went back to the other aspects of the game. Both offenses faltered on their first drives requiring punts. However, the Titans shanked theirs 20 yards giving the ball back to the Colts at the Titans' 40 yard line. After a couple runs, Vinatieri was called on to do what he does best, and once again, he did it. 37-34, Colts win.

Key Players
Andrew Luck: 22/31, 354 yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT
Marcus Mariota: 14/19, 114 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT
DeMarco Murray: 15 carries, 194 yards, 4 TDs
TY Hilton: 6 catches, 144 yards, 2 TDs

Pittsburgh bounces back big in week 7 33-14 over New England.  The defense came to play in this one, racking up 5 sacks, 3 Forced Fumbles with all 3 recovered and one for 6 Points.  Big Ben connected with Martavis Bryant early in the Game and The Juice was definitely loose with a 150+ yds rushing with an 89 TD Run.  Pittsburgh improves to 4 and 3 heading into their bye.
