Features and Improvements
Battle for Air Supremacy
- Total Control Passing:
- Place the ball where only your receiver can get it with body-relative throws including high-point, low-point, back-shoulder, and the ever-popular touch pass. Become the ultimate dual-threat and terrorize defenses with new pressure avoidance and QB scramble controls.
- Receiver/Defender Controls:
- Dictate the outcome of each passing play while the ball is in the air for the first time ever in Madden. For receivers, go for the highlight reel with the ‘aggressive’ catch or move the chains with the ‘possession catch’. On defense, disrupt the outcome of each play using the new ‘play ball’ and ‘hit receiver’ mechanics. Receivers and defenders deliver the most authentic exchanges to date with new press and zone-chuck interactions, contextual hand-fighting, and a variety of 2-man interactions at the catch point including pass interference penalties, tip balls, knock outs and simultaneous possession catches.
Playmaker Broadcast
- Integrated Broadcast Graphics:
- Your playmaker highlight reel has arrived with new player spotlights, dynamic goals and achievements, and innovative on-the-field cameras bringing you closer to the game than ever before. Making plays has never been this much fun and rewarding!
Game Modes
- Connected Franchise:
- Whether playing solo or online with friends, your quest to build an NFL dynasty comes complete with a brand new scouting and draft system as well as all-new dynamic goals throughout each game. Develop players with Game Prep and build your teams’ confidence through performance and front office transactions. Balance keeping players’ confidence up, to increase abilities and build player XP.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
- Click here for tons of Franchise bullet points:
- Online Franchise FINALLY gets its own REAL PRACTICE MODE.
You can start the first season at Week 1, instead of going through the pre-season.
Dynamic Drive Goals: Each new drive contains a Drive Goal that can be completed for bonus XP and/or Confidence. Specific goals are tailored based on events in the current game to give players a unique challenge each and every game. Dynamic Drive Goals truly influence the way you play. The more goals you complete, the faster your players improve.
Confidence was rebalanced. You can see XP and Confidence changes after every play. More Game Prep time to boost your low confidence players.
New scenario based goals can trigger. e.g. "Breakout RB" for playing a rookie RB. Weekly goals can be team or individual based. Goals will fill the loading screen before the game instead of pandering for people to play MUT.
Streamlined menu system. Less graphically intensive, I would hope makes it much smoother to move through.
New Drag and Drop Depth Chart instead of having to jump back and forth to see who you put where.
New Player Card is actually useful, letting you perform any actions possible with that player. e.g. Trade Block, Spend XP, Confidence, all important ratings.
NEW SCOUTING / NEW DRAFT
>> Coaches and Owners will see a “Thing to Do” item in Week 3 that instructs how to Scout. The basic concept is that you’ll spend Scouting Points on a player, learn more about their abilities, and decide whether you want to select them in the upcoming NFL Draft.
>> Scouting Points unlock a player’s top three attributes, with the third unlock providing their true draft value. This true draft value will help teams find “Diamonds” and “Overvalued” players in the draft class.
>> Will you take a projected fifth-round pick with second-round skills in round two, or wait until later hoping that others don’t realize his potential? These are the types of decisions that come to life with the new true talent rating.
>> WE GET COMBINE STATS
>> Immediate Draft feedback
Owner Mode and Finances
>> Small-market teams in older stadiums now have more money to spend into the offseason every year.
Commissioners can now "sim-a-win" to force particular CPU teams to win/lose, or punish rule-breakers.
- Madden Ultimate Team:
- Just Marketing Speak. No new features announced yet. But will of course be EA's focus going forward.
- Skills Trainer:
- With 60+ tutorials and drills, Skills Trainer focuses on teaching the strategy behind different passing and run concepts, as well as how to play Madden for new users to the series. Fan favorite Gauntlet mode returns with all-new Boss Battles, Extra Life challenges and opportunities to jump or fall levels in a single play.

I would be perfectly ok with better defenders that swatted balls instead of picking everything off, and seeing WRs actually make plays on balls that are under-thrown.Retailers wrote:Be the playmaker in Madden NFL 16 with all-new controls that allow you to dominate in the battle for air supremacy.

EA has revealed the Cover Vote. And it's a lot less heralded in years past. EA realizes they can't keep enough attention on their phoned in product for months on end.
The winner will be announced on May 13th.
Vote in round 1 now via Madden 15's Ultimate Team Mode. If you really care, you can complete their Collections/Challenges for bonus votes. You can also vote via the Madden Mobile app.
The Finals will be voted through ESPN.

I was thinking about it, but it looks like AP is staying and I love the defense Zimmer and Spielman have built. I'm leaning towards staying with the Vikes.

The Madden Cover Vote is down to Gronk and OBJ.
In wake of #DeflateGate, you have to think the anti-Patriots voters will come out strong to give OBJ the edge.
Results drop Tuesday at 6 pm EST.

More details have leaked about how Madden will incrementally evolve.
When catching the ball, receivers will no longer be able to just hold Triangle. In the heat of the moment, users will have to decide to make the "aggressive" catches, or opt for the safer catches that limit yards after catch. QBs will finally be able to throw legitimate back shoulder balls and better target receivers as opposed to deep, short, left, right. There will also be new QB scramble controls.
New dynamic goals will take place during the mid-game, altering how you approach the game on-the-fly. Brand new scouting and draft implementations.
All the official marketing speak was added to the spoiler boxes in the original post for organization purposes.

Odell Beckham Jr. is your Cover Vote winner.
With the announcement, EA has opened their floodgates of annual hype train information. In the original post I've updated the Pre-Order incentives (same lame MUT crap), and added EA's inclusion of a Deluxe Edition once again.
They've also released their first trailer showing a quick scene of each cover vote finalist.

Thanks for posting that Commando. You beat me to it by like 5 minutes.
In the original post above, I added all the key features next to the yellow exclamation point.
I'm really excited about 3 things they touched on. Commish tools to force wins/losses. Scouting/Drafting. Real Practice.
Hopefully there are more features and commish tools for online franchise. But still a solid upgrade list. And it's a shame that NHL can't even provide an online franchise mode this fall. Bleh.

Preview: MyMaddenPad | Shopmaster offers up some restrained praise for Franchise features and balancing
Obviously being given access to the game early and signing a NDA is going to restrict Shopmaster from criticizing things, I thought it was a good read, and he wasn't singing EA's praises.
Secondly, GameStop now has an exclusive offer if you pre-order through them. You get $15 worth of Concert Cash from Live Nation to use towards tickets or merchandise. Nothing major, but worth pointing out.
I've added these details to the original post.

What's great about EA's E3 video? The Packers lose.
New Game Mode in Madden Revealed. Draft Champions.
It's a MUT variant where you draft 15 players to a pre-made roster based on your favorite team, and go through challenges/tournaments versus CPU and Human opponents. This mode will be played in EA created stadiums to break up seeing the same real stadiums over and over.
In the video below, you can watch a full draft, and see the developers play part of a game with their draft players. Keep an eye on animations, QB throws, and WR/DB interactions.

Oh, and a bit old in news, but Madden is going back to having a REAL soundtrack! And in partnering with Spotify, the soundtrack will evolve with new music regularly to keep things fresh all season long!

EA Sports Blog | Deep Dive 1Multiplayer Catch interaction
>> Deflected balls will be reacted to in real time by any defenders in the area. So more diversity in how plays are swatted incomplete, different interception types, and crazy TDs through traffic are possible, and more.
>> Over 400 new animations.
New QB/RB Handoff System
>> Every handoff was reanimated to be given its own animation for each particular play type (Each run play, play-action, shot-plays, etc.)
QB Locomotion
>> Brand new QB Passer System.
>>>> Drop back, hit R2 to roll-outtowards a sideline, hit R2 again to then scramble for your life, hit R2 again to resume pocket passer mode.
>>>> Hit L2 to break out of drop back animations. (Was R2 last year when you read blitz)
>>>> CPU QBs will properly utilize these actions, making Wilson, Mariota, and Newton play properly instead of scrambling for an instant sack.
>> Designed roll-out pass plays won't suffer from the drops in accuracy that scrambling causes.
QB AI
>> More CPU traits given to QBs to help limit Robo QB, and give each QB their own unique personality to break up gameplay.
Passing Mechanics
>> Double tap passes to lob balls to receivers to drop them behind linebackers.
>> Improvements to throwing the ball high versus low for jump balls and possession throws.
Catching Mechanics
>> Hold Triangle, Square, or X as soon as you throw the ball to choose catch type. Can still hit Circle to control WR and steer him manually.
>> Square: Run After Catch
>>>> Receiver tries to catch the ball in stride. Higher drop chances. Easier for defenders to knockout the ball. Higher INT chances in traffic. Used when Receiver is in space or wide open.
>> Triangle: Aggressive Catch
>>>> Used when throwing high. Giants like Megatron, Jeffery, and Marshall excel here. WR fights the DB to highpoint the ball. Lower catch rates, higher knockout chances.
>> X: Possession Catch
>>>> Meant for slot/possession receivers. Combine with the low throw mechanic. Receiver is likely to go to the ground to ensure the catch.
WR AI Traits
>> Receivers will play to their style. You will be required to use the plays in their correct role, running the correct routes for them, and choosing the correct catch style to succeed in Madden 16.
>> New WR/DB Press interactions, Zone interactions, and hand-fighting.
Shot Plays
>> 100 new Shot Plays designed to try a deep strike TD. Team specific Shot Plays.
>> Over 600 new plays total!
RB Changes
>> Press R1 to get skinny to try and get through the line instead of getting stuck on your blocker.
>> Cut with the left stick to juke into a hole from behind the Line of Scrimmage.
PATs
>> Extra Points from the 15 yard line
>> Two Point conversion from the 2 yard line
>> Defenses can FINALLY score 2 pts on forced turnovers instead of blowing the play dead.
Penalties
>> Penalties are expected to finally work in the game.

EA Sports Blog | Deep Dive 2Play Ball
>> Hold Triangle to make a play for an interception. Increased chance to miss and give the receiver a big play.
Play Coverage
>> Hold X to make a play on the receiver to increase the odds to knock out the ball, but restrict yourself from interceptions.
Organic Gang Tackling
>> The Pro-Tak system was thrown out for a new system.
>> No limit on the number of defenders that can pile on.
>> Assisted Tackles and Half Sacks will no be recorded properly.
>> Conservative tackles lost their suction ability to warp to a ball carrier.
>> Aggressive tackles will now dive for the ball carrier, instead of diving in the direction he's running.
Quick Adjustments
>> Now hot route any defender assignments on the field without the need to control him.
Miscellaneous
>> QB Spy logic fixed. (Fuck you Lawrence Robinson!)
>> Press R3 to make your QB Spy chase the QB immediately.
>> Contain Defense was balanced to counter the new QB Roll Outs
>> No quick onside kicks. You get the chance to audible.
>> No huddle can no longer be abused to force the defense to be offsides.

EA Sports Blog | Deep Dive 3Penalties
>> Penalties actually work. New penalties added. Sliders will actually work.
>> New Penalty Trait: Undisciplined players will cause more penalties based on real NFL data.
>> Press Defense will lead to more Defensive Holding calls.
>> Goalline and Max Protect Hot Routes will lead to more Offensive Holding calls.
>> Jumping the snap early with R2 will lead to neutral zone infractions and encroachment calls.
>> Penalties are Encroachment, False Start, Offensive Holding, Facemask, Defensive Pass Interference, Illegal Block in the Back, Neutral Zone Infraction, Defensive Holding, Illegal Forward Pass, Illegal Touching, Delay of Game, Kick Catch Interference Running into the Kicker, Unnecessary Roughness and Roughing the Passer.
Procedural Awareness and Head Tracking
>> No impact on gameplay. Just adds to the immersion of players actually looking at the ball, other players, and the scoreboard.
Pre, Post, and During Play Motion Quality
>> Less player popping, warping, sliding, etc. Another focus on immersion.
Legacy Issues
>> QB Spy logic updated (QB swerves the spy exploit)
>> Flip the Play to speed up huddle break issue has been addressed
>> Out of position subs causing exploitable routes has been addressed
>> Rocket Catching / Mossing / DB Glitches have been significantly reduced and/or eliminated
>> A large percentage of the known “nano-blitzes” have been removed
>> The PA End Around exploit play has been addressed.
>> Route swapping exploits have also been resolved.
>> A variety of ‘money plays’ have been revised or altered.
>> Resolved the friendly quit glitch for Madden NFL 16

>> The 3d image pictured will show advertisements along with player stats.
>> Will also include pop up notifications like players eclipsing milestones e.g. so many TDs on the day.
Living Worlds
>> The crowds will now have props like foam fingers and terrible towels.
>> Female fans are modeled.
>> Fans that bring signs are modeled in frequency and style based on each teams actual signage usage.
>> Fans in winter will where officially licensed winter clothes.
>> Media members on the sidelines will properly identify as broadcast vs NFL Films members etc, and not wear shorts in the winter.
>> Players will react to the camera man rushing into the end zone for a close-up, and the game may even show you that camera man's feed.

EA has started releasing who the best players are at each position, and started with the top 10 rookies overall.Bears WR Kevin White has the best catch rating of all rookie WR this year.
The biggest takeaway seems to be that the speed ratings may have spread out a bit. Most of all, the deep accuracy rating for QBs maxes out at 80 to start the year...
Also, Peyton Manning is not a top 5 QB. And Matt Forte was SNUBBED as well, dropping out of the top 5 RBs.

Steelers with a Top 5 QB, RB and WR in Madden this year. sweeeeeeeeeetttt.
Big Ben 87 Short Acc, 90 Med Acc and 95 Throw on the Run will be nice.
Bell with 99 CAR and high 90 ELU
AB with 99 CTH and Route Running
That trio will be fun to play with. I may even buy Madden this year, lol.

Lol, thx. All this Madden talk and I finally bit the bullet. Just bought my PS4 today. I figure I've got a month to get used to the new system on Madden 15 before Madden 16 comes out.

Damn, I was thinking Jets too. Put me down for Dolphins as of today. Not a hard commitment but like a Deandre Jordan type commit
