2015 Season - Week 1

Welcome to Madden 16. The most balanced, and in my mind, challenging game of Madden in years.  As we embark on this journey over the next several months, let's look forward to some fun competition. We've got new faces, old faces making triumphant returns, and at least two users in every division.

**If you have not read and signed the rules thread, you will not be receiving a league invite until you do.**

FREE AGENTS
Wave 1 fizzled out with few of the upper end teams submitting picks to me. So they will be skipped. We will all skip Wave 2.
Week 1 and and Week 2 will have a signing restriction of 2 players per team. This will allow the CPU to make changes to their roster, and make sure that the slackers get a chance at a player or two they need.

ALL GAMES MUST BE STREAMED VIA TWITCH.
User vs User games can designate one of the two players to stream, both do not have to stream at the same time to save bandwidth.

Season Spotlights
Once again, we will be having pre-season nominations of our players, and then vote on them after the regular season concludes. Head over to the nomination thread and name your guys. During the season, it'd be great to get some updates on how your Spotlight Players are doing to push a league narrative of some sort.

VS
An opening matchup of longtime vets. What's not to love? Posky and Ken have been AALoA members since the beginning. Posky brings a lethal downfield passing attack, balanced by two good TEs to garner attention in the middle of the field. Ken's versatile 3-4 defense is always in attack mode. He'll bring a blitz from any angle to keep you on your toes, double guessing yourself into making mistakes. Will good Stafford show up? Or normal Stafford? Will the Philip Rivers and Keenan Allen match up to form one of AALoA's more dangerous WR combos again?

My bold prediction: The team that scores the most points is going to win the game.

Week 2 Opens Monday Night.

I was up 20-7 in the 4th quarter and got Dc'd then played again and I had sooo many penalties go against me especially when I'd stop them on 3rd down to give them the automatic 1st down.. Seahawks suffered what shoulda been a 1-0 start instead fall 17-14 to the Rams.. Positives the defense is sharp just a lot of luck on the Rams side of the ball this week.. Green Bay we coming for you

Dolphins escape Miami with a W, 17-16. Penalties galore in this one. Maybe an adjustment to the slider will be needed. The Washington rushing offense was a juggernaut for most of the game but Bob Griffin couldn't hit receivers consistently. And the opposite was true for Miami, as the run game struggled but Ryan Tannehill played incredible with a 20/25 280 yd & 2 TD performance.

Play of the game came at the 2 minute warning of the 4th Q as Miami was trailing 6-14 on their own 30. Tannehill hit Greg Jennings a 54 yard bomb DOE to put Miami in FG range. A couple rushes for a first down followed by 3 kneel downs (cant be too careful in the rain) led to a Miami FG for the win as time expired.

Browns escape New York with a sloppy win!

Browns defeated the Jets 13-10 in a sloppy sloppy game, Manziel had two terrible throws and one bad read by Nike but besides that he had over a 60% comp pct. RB Committee of Robert Turbin,Duke Johnson and incumbent starter Isiah Crowell has sparked up a debate; Is this a three workhorse backfield or will one "run away" with the competition.

After 1 preseason game and Week 1, the Redskins know they are in for a very long season. RG3 did well in the option game but cannot throw a 10+ yd pass to save his life. I almost cut him until I looked at FA market.
The secondary plays like a group of RG3s. How in the world Greg Jennings burns your safeties in cover 2 man is beyond me.

The 49ers defense played a great game against the Vikings coming up with 3 interceptions and only allowing 7 points, but the offense couldn't muster anything but two missed field goals. Carlos Hyde couldn't seem to gain any traction even though he had a few big runs and Matt Flynn wasn't helped by his receiving core as there were multiple dropped passes. The most notable drop was by Anquan Boldin who dropped a wide open pass that had touchdown written all over it.The offense will look to improve next week in the passing game and the defense hopes to put up a repeat performance of this defensive brawl.

Steelers Spoil Patriots Celebration

The Steelers came into Foxboro and played poor party guests as they beat the New England Patriots 24-14 on a night that was supposed to be a celebration of their Super Bowl victory from last season.  The Steelers offense picked up right where it left off from last season moving the ball at ease on the ground and through the air.  Punter Jordan Berry can attest to that as he was not called upon all game.  That's not to say this was a blowout as the Patriots moved the ball well on the Steelers porous defense in their own right.  With much of the talk coming into the game being about the Steelers Big 3 it was the savvy veteran TE Heath Miller who provided the big plays in the second half to help secure the victory.  Miller finished with 4 receptions for 99 yards including the go ahead TD as well as a huge grab late in the game to seal the deal and allow the Steelers to run out the clock.

Bears fall short to hated rivals in opener

Chicago entered the season with a lot of question marks on defense, a new leader at Quarterback, and several offensive weapons just looking to be unloaded. D-d-discount Double Check made sure that Green Bay would win their first season opener in years.

The Packers could not, and would not be stopped on 3rd down, no matter the distance. Davante Adams and Randall Cobb would always find a spot in the Bears defense to make Chicago fans everywhere pull their hair out.  The game came down to an onside kick with 1 minute left, and failing to convert, Ay-ay-ron did what he does best. Get on his knees.

Instead of focusing on the missed opportunities, the Bears flashed several growth opportunities.
Zach Mettenberger put on a show, eclipsing 300 yards passing. He showed great rapport with Jeffery, and White. With good accuracy he just forced a couple passes, which is expected of a young gunslinger. What he did not do was zone in on a receiver before the snap like his current backup.

Kevin White hauled in a clutch deep ball on 3rd and long and scooted off the house. An electric play.

Alshon Jeffery proved he is a clear #1 receiver in this league.

The Bears offensive line shuffled their right side, and only had one mental lapse on a sack that was overcome on a 4th and 18 conversion.

The defense. Woof. Barf. Fuuuucking Christmas. Time and time again the defense would rise to the occasion on second down, only to collapse on 3rd and forever. Davante Adams diced the secondary for 3 TDs.  Pernell McPhee, Shea McLellin, and Eddie Goldman all flashed at times. The inexperience can only lead to learning opportunities, and Rodgers put on an absolute clinic.
