Season 2: Week 9

Young the Giant - Mind Over Matter

It's the halfway point in the season, and division races are tightening up. Just look at the NFC North where 3 teams hold 5 wins. The Bears beat the Packers, and the Vikings beat the Bears. Interesting tiebreakers there.

Two of the top teams in the NFC square off. A potential NFC Championship might get a regular season preview here folks. Can Ghost open up his passing attack to avoid zeroing in on Mathews? Does Nike have enough offense dialed up to give his defense a break?

The Bears traveled to Santa Clara where the 49ers still hold on to the San Francisco city namesake. In a game that saw Jay Cutler throw not one, not two, not three, but four interceptions, and Matt Forte get held to a measly 12 yards rushing, it's a safe bet to gamble on how the game played out. Heck, Cutler gave the game away with two of those picks coming in the 4th quarter.

But then something weird happened. Carlos Hyde fumbled twice in the fourth quarter leaving the door open just an inch. With 12 seconds left, Forte plowed into the end zone giving the Bears a 1 point lead. The 49ers had no time outs, and Bears rookie LB Dalton Stumph sacked Kaepernick to end the game.

You have to wonder if SquirrelHunter is having flashbacks to the NFC Championship game. Afterwards, the 49ers owner could only be quoted as he passed by Bill Swerski in the owner skyboxes, "You never ever ever get to complain about the madden gods again. smh. GG."  He's probably right. The win finally put an end to the Bears midseason losing streak.

>>Cutler did amass 325 yards passing and 3 TDs, connecting with 8 different receivers.
>>Despite Carlos Hyde's two crippling fumbles, he cleared the century mark on the ground bruising the Bears between the tackles relentlessly.
>>Alshon Jeffery might have surpassed Brandon Marshall as the team's go-to receiver with 119 yards receiving compared to Marshall's 38.
>>Despite Forte's shoddy run production, he did collect 45 yards through the air and 2 key TDs.
>>Every single one of the 49ers offensive linemen posted more pancakes than any single Bears O-Linemen. So dominating.
>>Bears LB Bostic and FS Vereen were the opportune defenders to strip Hyde. Vereen recovered his own fumble, rookie LB Stumph grabbed Bostics forced fumble.
>>Both teams scored on pick sixes where the press defender was supposed to cover the flat, but sagged way back to the hole in the Cover 2 zone to grab the INT.

Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go win the lottery and buy some blow to snort off a hooker because apparently I'm untouchable right now.

Buccs we're winning GOTW 20-0 towards the end of the 2nd half before a random dc happened. Buccs defense was on fire Verner had two ints and a 100 yd int TD, shame it didn't count. Ended up winning the replay vs the cpu in OT lol
