AALoA NCAA14.5 Dynasty Kickoff Weekend
EA Sports may have ended their run of creating college football games but that hasn't stopped the AALoA Community from keeping the fun going.  Thanks to an updated roster set and small but dedicated and skilled group of users the NCAA14.5 Dynasty edition lives on.

With that said, today is the day college fans look forward to all Summer ... Opening Weekend!  The return of the AALoA Dynasty finds us with a smaller user group and they are all scattered across the country in different schools and at different coaching roles.

Coach Nate Anderson, probably the most decorated Coach of the NCAA14 Dynasty heads out West to be the Head Coach of the Arizona State Sun Devils.  He takes the reigns of the #18 ranked team in the country and hopes to make an immediate splash in the PAC12 as he tries to duplicate the success he had with Alabama.

Coach Steel Pitt has retired but a disciple of his coaching tree takes over in the form of TomBarry DiClemente.  Coach DiClemente will be tasked with transforming the former Triple option attack of Air Force into a more traditional offense as he looks to make his way up the coaching ranks.

Coach Mustard moves on from his alma mater but doesn't go far as he heads over to Texas to take over the Run and Shoot offense of SMU.  Coach Mustard found a lot of success with Maty Mauk in Mizzou and hopes he can put up similar numbers within the Run and Shoot scheme.

Coach Truth stays in the Midwest as he looks to turn around the fortunes of Miami (OH) in the MAC conference.  Truth accepted the Head Coaching position and looks to guide the Redhawks to a MAC Championship.

Coach Nike returns to the NCAA forum as he accepted a position in his hometown so he will be coaching with a heavy heart at Florida Atlantic.  Can he lead the Owls into relevancy?  Time will tell.

Week 1 Preview
Miami (OH) at SMU
Both teams come into this game looking to change their fortunes of recent history.  Miami (OH) is looking to rebound from a dismal 2013 season and winning a single game would be a good start.  I say this because they suffered through an 0-12 season in 2013 and have hired Coach Truth to turn things around.  SMU meanwhile wasn't much better as June Jones wasn't able to get this team in the right direction as they did not participate in the post season after finishing 5-7.  Enter Coach Mustard as the Offensive Coordinator to help right the ship.  Coach Mustard intends to keep the Run and Shoot philosophy while quickening the tempo.  That could be a deadly combo.

Air Force at #18 Arizona State
The Falcons were #93 in the country last season in Points Per Game as well as Yards per Game.  Coach Calhoun decided the answer was to hire Coach TomBarry DiClemente as the new Offensive Coordinator.  Coach DiClemente will have the daunting task of turning this triple option offense into a more modern attack using players recruited for the triple offense.  His first test will be on the road in Tempe against the #18 ranked Sun Devils coached by the most successful coach in the AALoA during the NCAA14 Dynasty season (Coach Nate Anderson).  Good luck with that.

Florida Atlantic has a bye week.

During the 2014 season I will be tracking the progress of the newly hired Offensive Coordinator at Air Force, TomBarry DiClemente, to see how is performing as he attempts to modernize the Air Force attack.

Run game propels Mustangs over Redhawks

SMU 48, Miami (OH) 38

DALLAS Forty-eight points and a new school rushing record?

Not bad for the first day on the job.

Mr. Mustard's new-look SMU Mustangs pummeled the Miami Redhawks on the ground, racking up more than 300 yards rushing en route to a 48-38 victory.

Senior HB Kevin Pope set a school record with 251 rushing yards and three TDs on 19 carries, putting the Run into the Mustard's new Run and Shoot offense.

"All credit to the big dudes up front," Pope said. "Even coach could've run through some of those holes."

QB Matt Davis was solid, but wasn't asked to do much, finishing with 96 yards and a TD while completing 8 of his 9 throws. (His lone miss was an INT he threw on a miscommunication with a receiver on an option route.)

But all wasn't rosy for SMU.

Miami's offense gave nearly as good as they got, racking up nearly 400 yards of total offense behind the stellar play of QB Andrew Hendrix.

Despite falling behind early, Hendrix was cool and collected on one scoring drive after another, racking up 348 yards and 4 TDs on the day.

But it wasn't quite enough.

SMU will take a 1-0 record into its bout with Florida Atlantic next week.

GG truth. Your front 7 just got completely overpowered.

Air Force Spoils Arizona State Home Opener

It was only one game and while the offense wasn't spectacular, you have to say the end result was a success.  The Falcons marched into Tempe and stole a victory from the #18 ranked Sun Devils.  Under the direction of new OC TomBarry DiClemente, the Air Force Academy had a much more balanced attack as they racked up 335 yards of total offense (170 rushing and 165 passing) en route to a 28-21 victory.

Going 1-4 in the redzone really hurt me in this last game. Offense moved the ball well, I just made some bad decisions in the redzone.
