It turns out tattoos are not in the game completely.  Kaepernick got written permission from his tattoo artist to use the tattoos in game. Which is nonsense. I don't understand how a tattoo artist retains any  rights on what's on another person's body.

Expect next to no tattoos this year, and gradually more each year that follows.

Retailers are putting up pre-order bonuses. It's $15 in MUT content. Lame.

There is also an "Ultimate Edition" announced that is $69.99 instead of $59.99 and includes an additional $40 in MUT content. The cards include 10 of this year's first round draft picks and 30 Pro Packs.

I caught the EA press conference for E3 this afternoon, and while just a glimpse, but Madden appears to see a major update to how defense is played.

It may not be default/mandatory but they showed defensive control taking place behind the player. Which in turn may limit super LB play. Different tackle styles and controls for D line looks mighty promising.

>> Defensive line adjustments such as adding new moves and showing button presses on screen to exect different moves.
>> Vision Cone (not in the QB sense) the game shows the defender's tackling angle.
>> Play call adjustments -- The game will show the AI choice, the internet's favorite choice, and your favorite choice for each situation as a replacement of sorts for GameFlow.
>> Defensive Back coverage improvements to match physical versus coverage playstyles.
>> Broadcast adjustments inspired directly by the NFL Network. And nomore crazy infinite loop of gameplay showing on the jumbotrons. More camera angles, not terrible commentator adjustments as of yet.

Notice the new kicking meter.
Also watch the new (optional) player lock camera. There's a play or two where the player switched to another defender when he was out of position. The camera is zoomed back enough to make the transition pretty smooth.

Here's some more info to chew over.

Oh, and if you're living under a rock, Richard Sherman won the cover vote. I believe it was a 60/40 split?

The EA website has official topics posted on changes to the game for the coming season. I figured I'd be more cyncial, but I'm lowering my BS meter a bit to cautiously optimistic this year.

I can't imagine a behind the back view on defense being realistic or enjoyable really, unless they also include a vision cone return. In the NFL LB's make great plays on the ball watching the QB's head. Can't do that in Madden.

Plus on a run play where the RB makes you miss or breaks away, how do you kn ow where your other defenders are? Idk.

Complex | 10 Reasons to be Excited About Madden 15
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

1.) Pre-play Adjustments and Audibles
 > > > EA has confirmed that you cannot rapid fire hot routes anymore. You get one quick hot route when you break the huddle. But you then have to wait for the offense to get lined up and let the QB call the hot route.
2.) NFL Films-Like Presentation Revamp
 > > > You can scroll through each camera angle pre-snap. So if you know you're running, you can zoom in tight. If you know you're throwing, you can swiftly zoom out to see the outside WRs. No more programmed cutscenes, players move and react on the fly.
3.) Playcalling
 > > > They reference the AI choice, web-based choice, and your own historical choice, along with success rates and average yards per play.
 > > > You also see what play was called last by the defense when you huddle up.
4.) Adaptive AI
 > > > The CPU is smart enough to target your tendencies, hopefully eliminating "money plays" from getting abused. If only NCAA 14 would get patched to balance out the out rotes.
5.) Improved Pass Coverage
 > > > AI players will bait you by playing off in anticipation to jump a comeback route.
6.) Better Visuals
7.) Matchup Stick
8.) Robo QB No More
 > > > QB ratings will matter even more. Expect to see legitimate incompletions and a greater separation from elite QBs and scrubs.  No more Logan Thomas rookies destroying secondaries.  Pressure should also impact lesser QBs more.
9.) The Gauntlet
10.) War in the Trenches 2.0

Madden NFL 15 Hype Train Empty Re: Madden NFL 15 Hype Train

Fri Jul 18, 2014 5:22 pm
Results of the EA Developers twitch stream was enlightening. I live tweeted a bunch of the info. So if you follow the @_AALoAtwitter feed, I apologize for the past hour.  Wink

Other bullet points:
>> New defensive "wide" formations to help counter offenses trying to rush outside.
>> New edge blocking mechanic to show realistic interaction letting defenders "set the edge" correctly.
>> New defensive hot route. You can "bluff blitz" and charge forward before dropping back into coverage.
>> Defensive smart hot routes: you can specifically defend the first down markers now.
>> Defensive risk/reward of smart hot routes. If you defend the sticks, you're likely to give up the deep ball
>> New line protect hot route. Replaced Aggressive with Max Protect. TE and backfield all block.
>> More pre-snap bluffs on defense. eg Cover 2 show Cover 4
>>>> There were only a few plays like this in Madden 25 and base align wasn't always the best.
>> Marketing and the ratings czar banned the streamers from showing team ratings on team select screen.
>> Ratings will start coming out Monday July 21st
>> Developers preaching over and over how balanced the game is. Even admitting to losing on All-Pro difficult
>>>> Seriously it should've been a drinking game and I'd be hammered if it was.
>> The Skills Trainer mode was fully developed by only 2 people. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing EA...
>> No more "turbo blitzes" and nano blitzes are constantly being discovered and nerfed by developers
>> Legacy award trophies are in the game again. "Drew Brees Legacy Award" triggered during gameplay
>> New coverage hot routes.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
>>>> You can also see part of the new down/distance markers with team logo.
>> Hot route delay only applies to the offense. Defense can still hit route like crazy That's both good and bad
>>>> The good, defense has always been hard. The bad, any nano blitz combos that can't be nerfed and require a crazy string of hot routes will go undeterred. Looking at the coverage pic above, you have to be crazy quick to hit Triangel, the pick your coverage, or press X, press WR to cover, then press your hot route choice.
>> Only 2 O linemen can block 1 defender. But other O-line are aware and will block when one gets slipped
>> Defensive assignments are only done per play. Cannot set a game wide assignment like NCAA series yet
>>>> In NCAA 14 you can set your team to focus on the QB for all option plays, or always go RB, or mix it up. In Madden you have to remember to guess every play. Such a headache. No mention on whether you can pair your best DB with the offense's best WR. But that could've been announced before I tuned in.
>> Hit Stick still works. Also mapped to the Square button.

It's amazing how candid the developers were. They alluded to things they couldn't work on yet and are planning for already. They prefaced comments on how they impacted the tourney games or sim-style gamers specifically. Really helps get a sense on what direction the developers are going in.

EA Sports | Deep Dive: Gameplay Enhancements
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Yesterday, EA posted a fairly beefy blog about different improvements. Things that were mentioned before have been expanded on a bit more, like the new kicking meter functions and the impact of accuracy ratings, as well as how the bluff blitz hot route will operate.

I'm very intrigued by chess balance between contain and regular pass rushes. With the Bears, I've never been afraid to take off with Cutler when the opportunity was there, but with Marshall, Jeffery, and Forte all being amazing passing game options, users will have the choice to blitz and disrupt passing while leaving someone open, contain rush and let routes open up since they'll have to cover for longer, or go regular coverage with the chance to give up scrambles. Whatcha gonna do Commando? muahahahaha.

EA Sports wrote:
Every year in Madden, the team introduces a few small features that slide under the radar compared to those big “back of box” features we implement into the game.
Being a hardcore Madden and former tournament competitor, some of these smaller changes are sometimes the coolest things to our hardcore fans. So with that said, I wanted to keep those diehard Madden heads in the loop with some of the less flamboyant changes we have made to Madden NFL 15.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
NEW PRE-PLAY MECHANICS
For years, offensive players have had the ability to extend certain routes to the first down marker by using the smart route mechanic. In Madden 15, players have this same ability on the defensive side of the ball for their hook, buzz, and flat zones. By simply pressing Y, Y (Xbox One) or Triangle, Triangle (PlayStation 4) at the line of scrimmage, any defender in a hook, buzz, or flat zone will now drop to the first down marker to try and keep everything in front of them. The risk is that defenders protecting the sticks will not attempt to leverage a route that extends beyond the first down marker.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
MAX PROTECT BLOCKING
This is a new piece to our slide protection system, and sets all tight ends and players in the backfield to block. This functionality replaces last year’s aggressive slide protection functionality.
Quick Tip: Using this functionality allows you to hot route multiple players to a blocking assignment in one command, and is a nice complement to the improved QB cadence change, as it allows you to avoid the QB’s delay in between hot routes.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
NEW PRE-PLAY COVERAGE ADJUSTMENTS
This allows players to dictate what type of coverage technique they want their defenders to play, something hardcore fans have been asking for. The four coverage types users can choose from when using this functionality are listed below. The only coverage assignments these adjustments do not affect are Deep Zones.
Underneath: Puts defenders in a trail type of coverage where they will try and stay underneath the receiver.
Overtop: Defenders will try and stay over the top of their opponent to avoid getting beat deep. The disguised cushion functionality from Madden NFL 25 has been removed.
Outside: Puts defenders in a better position to stop sideline routes, while giving up space in the middle.
Inside: Puts defenders in a better position to stop routes over the middle of the field, while giving up space toward the sideline.
Quick Tip: Using this functionality mixed in with our Individual coverage adjustments is a great way to throw off opponents who may be keen to your global coverage adjustments. Individual coverage adjustments are taught in skills trainer.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
NEW QB CONTAIN MECHANIC
The QB contain defensive hot route has been replaced with a more realistic QB contain system that mimics QB contain behavior in the NFL much better that the old one.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
The new QB Contain system consist of the following changes:
- QB contains are now called through the defensive keys menu, and are also built into certain defensive plays.
- The outside-most pass rusher goes into the contain assignment when a user calls “contain” at the LOS.
- Defenders in contain assignments now engage a blocker, which allows them to slowly collapse the pocket while protecting the running lanes outside the pocket.
- Defenders in contain are able to disengage from blocks quickly when a QB rolls out to their side.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
BLUFF BLITZ
This is a new defensive hot route that does several different things based on the defender’s positioning on the field. This hot route can be found where the defensive contain hot route used to be.
- Defenders on the LOS that are hot routed to bluff blitz will guard the HB (If he is not already manned up) or drop into hook zone (If the HB is already manned up).
- Defenders off the LOS or in the tackle box who are hot routed to bluff blitz will make their initial move like a blitzer before aborting to play their previous assignment.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
NEW MISCELLANOUS MADDEN 15 GAMEPLAY FEATURES
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
FIXED MAX COVERAGE DEFENSIVE EXPLOIT
Maximum coverage defensive schemes have often been overpowering in past versions of Madden. This year, running the ball will be very effective against schemes thanks to some tuning. If you are in a game and your opponent is dropping multiple defensive linemen into coverage, make sure you run the ball!
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
FAKE SNAP
Although this mechanic is not specific to Madden NFL 15, there is now more of a reason than ever to implement it into your arsenal. With user defenders now utilizing the all-new off the line mechanics, players can now use Fake Snap to get them to jump offsides. Fake Snap can be triggered by a user QB simply pressing RB (Xbox One) or R1 (PS4) at the LOS. But be careful! Fake snaps can lead to false starts from your offensive linemen.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
IMPROVED ADAPTIVE AI
Pass plays in Madden 15 have been grouped into real-life football concepts that dictate the types of defenses each pass play should be successful against. When an AI QB decides to audible, they will audible to a play that looks to beat your current defensive call. This makes for the most challenging, adaptive AI that we have ever seen in Madden. AI QB’s audible frequency will be dictated by the player’s awareness rating, difficulty level, and the number of times the user has called the same defensive play. It's more important than ever to mix up your playcalling in Madden 15.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
QB CADENCE DURING PRE-PLAY ADJUSTMENTS
This change has a big impact on competitive head-to-head play. Gone are the days of making several hot routes before your team has reached the LOS.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Players now see an icon, and will have to wait until their QB completes a Peyton Manning-like cadence animation before they can select their next hot route, smart route, or audible. This change should force a more simulation style of Madden football.

NEW DEFENSIVE PLAY TYPES
Playbooks have several new defensive play types that are new to Madden this year. They are:
Contain: These plays include built-in contain assignments, so the user is not forced to make the adjustment at the LOS.
Disguised Coverage Shell: These play types will have defenders align in a way that disguises their coverage type. For example, there will be Cover 4 type plays where the defense aligns as if they are in Cover 2, as well as Cover 2 type plays where the defense aligns in Cover 1. There are multiple new plays that use this new logic.
New Wide Defensive formations: In Madden NFL 25, outside run plays were considered to be one of the more dominant offensive strategies. In Madden NFL 15, players now have a variety of new “Wide” defensive formations that are built to stop those outside runs. These new Wide formations can be found in Nickel and 4-3. 3-4 has also been adjusted to better stop outside runs with linebackers setting closer to the edge.

KICKING GAME ADJUSTMENTS
Madden NFL 15 includes some long overdue adjustments to that help capture the significance of the kicking game in the NFL. Users will see the following adjustments with the kicking game in Madden 15:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Accuracy Matters: Accuracy wedge in the kicking meter now scales based on your kicker’s rating and the distance of the kick.
Kick Accuracy Rating: Kick accuracy rating now plays a major impact on the kicking game, and affects a kicker’s aiming sensitivity when moving the R Stick to the desired position.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Kick Power: The effect of kick power ratings (KPW) has been adjusted across the board. For example, players with a 99 KPW can now kick as far as a 64-yard FG, while a player with an 83 KPW can only kick as far as a 45-yard FG.
Wind arrow bug is fixed: The arrow showing which way the wind is blowing was broken in Madden NFL 25. This has been resolved in Madden NFL 15.
Authentic Wind and Weather: Wind has been tuned to alter kicks in a more authentic manner. Weather and precipitation now have a slightly greater impact on kick power and accuracy.
AI Kicking: AI Punters will more frequently attempt coffin-corner punts. AI teams will also no longer attempt FG’s that their kicker has no chance of making.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Kicking Arc UI: In previous Madden titles, all users had to do in order to trigger an accurate kick was flick the R Stick straight up. In Madden NFL 15, players have to flick the R Stick in the direction they want the kick to go in order to get an accurate kick.
A revamped Kick Meter has been added, complete with kick distance and landing spot visuals that help user’s asses where their kick is projected to go. When playing on Rookie or Pro, the kick arc shows the user the projected landing spots for their kick if it gets 100%, 75%, or 50% power, while the All Pro kick arc only shows the user the projected landing spot if they get 100% power. All visual settings are defaulted to off in All-Madden, and can be toggled on or off regardless of difficulty level.
As you can see, Madden NFL 15 includes a number of gameplay improvements that will help make this year’s game the most realistic Madden yet.

EA Sports | MUT New Features
EA Sports | MUT "Sets"

What used to be "Collections" have been renamed "Sets"
EA tried to make the mode easier to use and easier for new players to grasp.

Frankly, it was a nightmare to manage cards via the MUT menu last year. EA compared both options to show the changes.

EA Sports wrote:...Collection in MUT 25.
1. Open a pack with a cool new Item you’ve been looking for to complete a collection
2. Select it and move it to your Current Roster (space permitting)
3. Tab over to the Current Roster tile, and find the new Item
4. Send it to Pending Collections (space permitting)
5. Tab over to Collections and find the right place for the new Item
6. Choose the empty slot and add (with a few more confirmations)

Now, let’s talk about how this same procedure works with sets in MUT 15.
1. Open a pack with a cool new Item you’ve been looking for to complete a collection
2. Select that Item to open the viewer, and choose Add to Set. Done

Pasta Padre | First Madden NFL 15 Connected Franchise Info Involves Two New Features

You will be able to allot more time to develop players between games, say boosting a backup rookie QB of the future without having to force players into games.  Confidence ratings will fluctuate ratings from time to time. If a player is not performing well, his ratings will be subjected to drop, lower confidence will lead to a bigger drop.

If you read anything about the EA Access program they're launching, it won't apply to Playstation users. Part of EA and Microsoft's exclusivity agreement they signed last year, users can pay EA $5/month or $30/year to get early access to releases 5 days early on the XBone, starting with Madden 15.

This is similar to what the EA Sports Season ticket was, but the program will also include downloads from a "Vault" of older games like Mass Effect, and instead of 20% off on DLC purchases, it's reduced to 10% discounts.

Madden NFL 15 Hype Train Empty Re: Madden NFL 15 Hype Train

EA broke news about CFM during a Google Hangouts interview.

Confidence Rating:

  • Is now a 1-99 rating.
  • No longer a "hot or cold streak" impact on players as before.
  • Dynamic rating that fluctuates from time to time.
  • Can change based on winning/losing games, playing well/playing poorly, trading high rated players will weaken multiple players, drafting/signing a stud player can impact the incumbent starter if their depth chart spot is threatened.
  • 50 rating is normal confidence ratings, and everyone starts at 50.
  • Key ratings drop when confidence drops too low. Likewise, key ratings go up when confidence rises.
  • CPU teams have the AI logic to decide if they're rebuilding, or if they have a chance at the playoffs when planning their Game Prep choices.
  • Confidence never resets. So all moves can hinder/help the team at all times.

Game Prep:

  • You can focus long-term, getting backups and young guys more reps and XP. Short-term would then focus on key starters and help keep their confidence high.
  • Can be quick, make 5 choices in seconds before a game.
  • Can be very involved, run drills to gain better confidence multipliers for achievements.
  • AI can be allowed to sim game prep.
  • Individual player drills are available now.
  • Hours are realistically capped. Playing on Monday night will shorten your available hours for development before your next game.

Draft Classes

  • Everything about every player is randomized (height, weight, schools, skills).
  • Draft classes reconfirmed to be impossible to write a draft guide for because of this.
  • Draft class stories will still be showing up throughout the year.
  • Editing draft classes not allowed. No importing of other people's draft classes.

Commissioner Tools

  • Multiple Sub-Commissioners now allowed!
  • Termed Auto-Pilots: Can set a guy for a number of weeks or indefinitely.
  • Nothing else mentioned, (would love to be able to reset games like in NCAA).
  • Commissioner can sim multiple games in advance. Can sim to specific game week, scenario (playoffs, Super Bowl, free agency, etc.), or sim multiple seasons all at once (like 10 years).

Team Relocation

  • 153 uniform choices for relocated teams.
  • New team names.
  • New team logos.
  • Can restrict CPU team relocation, and still allow them to rebuild their stadiums if needed.

Miscellaneous

  • Depth Charts: will require a new minimum number of players at each position before being allowed in game as previously it caused injury bugs that could be exploited.
  • Player Careers: The experience playing as an individual player overhauled to make it more entertaining and eliminate nonsense plays like holding for kicks.
  • Free Agency: Each player has a ranking of what they're looking for. Money is no longer everything. Might not sign with a team who already has a ton of depth at their position for example.
  • Owner Mode: Every individual product you sell was tuned to have its own sweet spot. More difficult. Need money to keep fans happy and attendance up, improve stadiums, rebuild stadiums, etc.
  • Spending XP: Can buy multiple player upgrades all at once to speed up the process.
  • Progression/Regression: Can see how much older players are regressing now.
  • Weekly Goals: Based on depth chart, starters with higher goals. Goals are dynamic to scenario: Pre-Season games will have less goals versus regular season and playoff goals. Coaching goals redid to spice up gameplay.
  • Injured Reserve: Can take players that heal early off of IR and restore their roster spot.
  • Pro Bowl: "Legends" will be Pro Bowl captains and draft Pro Bowl rosters.
  • Staffing: You can hire/fire staff (coaches, trainers, scouts) during season.
  • Jerseys: CPU teams can choose to wear alternate uniforms.
  • Player Schemes: In game depth chart now shows the same rating as what you see out of game.
