Game Capture Device(s)

So. We had a slight discussion about this before and it went nowhere. I believe this Elgato Gaming Capture HD was just recently released, and seems to be the best bet in recording your game footage for uploading.

You can do it offline, or even pay for a service to stream the capture. The included editing software is super simple. Just cut/crop out items you don't want. No special effects or anything.

What do you think? Anyone else in the league looking to hop on board and really show had sad and pathetic our geeky lives can get?

Since I passed my licensing exam, I'll be getting a bit of a signing bonus at work. I'm thinking of splurging to pick this bad boy up. It will allow me to upload games, and also splice highlights when the Jay Cutler to Alshon Jeffery connection makes the league Hall of Fame.

I am definitely getting a capture device for Madden 13. I had ordered a used one a couple months ago and things got complicated and long story short, I don't have a capture device. I will definitely take a look at this. I'm still at that age where my parents feel obligated to give me birthday money (hooray for younger brothers), and I'm also at that age where student loan payments are still a few months away, so I'm gonna splurge a little bit and grab one of these. Aside from drinking, Madden is my only regular leisure activity so it seems worth it to me. See how good I am at justifying unnecessary purchases to myself?

I looked at Roxio and Hauppage ones in the past. It doesn't seem like any stores really sell these devices (that I found in my area anyways), so it looks like I will be ordering online. I'm most excited to add commentary to the game footage to be honest lol, I think deep inside we all want to be game announcers.

i have bought the roxio game capture ill and i didnt like so i wouldnt recommend that one

El Gato Game Capture HD...bought, shipped, and delivered to my doorstep. Can't wait to test this bad boy out, and just in time for the start of AALoA.

Let me know how it is EDJ. I haven't ordered one yet because of the whole not-having-a-job thing But now that I have a job I will probably wait a few weeks and save some money and get one. Update us how it is, I am excited to see some footage.

I've taken one video, a MUT game and cut it down to 18 minutes. I'll upload it tonight if I can.

Here's a short test capture. I cut down the mid play scenes. It sees to have turned out fair enough. The only bad thing is the card needs USB power to pass through video. So if you're not recording, you either have to find a spare USB plug that can power it, or plug it into the PS3.

Looks good. I'm going to order one this weekend. Any stores sell them?
